This exactly! My whole commute to work is 35-45 mph on mostly flat roads. 95% of the time the motors at around 1500 rpm +\- 300 and it's perfect, the only time it shifts to soon is under more throttle going up grades etc.

If every other person that owns a tacoma can put on 265/70/17 tires why would I be the one that made the problem...

Maybe forgot to drop the front diff or maybe used flat blocks instead of tapered blocks...

Following the logic: added tires - suddenly problem arises = looking toward tune as a fix isnt logicial.

I can say, My truck runs better using my 265/75/16 C load dura-tracs (same size as Mats test truck) than when I put on my 265/70/16 Blizzak snow tires. The Blizzaks are lighter so you can feel more power on take off but that slight size difference throws off the shift points. It's no big deal but I thought it was interesting. Infact, I just threw my snow tires on yesterday after work and it's an immediate different feel/shift. I much prefer the 265/75/16 feel/shift but the Blizzaks sure work good. (I know this has nothing to do with the other posters issues, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents of how you can feel changes in shifting so easily)

I wouldn’t think this would be the case for 5th and 6th but who knows. 1-4 this would be a good thing though.

The price difference between 87 and 92 was $0.30/gal. I was expecting the usual $0.20 and wussed out over that big ol' $2.00 for the 20gal fillup. :D

There are 3 separate reasons, all unique reasons, for possible stuttering that I have (and with help of some folks here) pinpointed
    1. Torque converter states
    2. ACIS valve opening and closing repeatedly, whenever a load point is tripped under 2700 rpm
    3. the purge solenoid for the gas tank continually cycling at low RPM. This also makes a distinct NOISE at idle too. It's louder on some trucks than others. Every time it does cycle, intake vacuum is changed and it introduces instability

I never do, even before I switched to Costco. We did buy a few Chevron cars when the girls were little.

It is a bit frustrating that Costco doesn't have squeegees at the pumps, but for the price, I can deal with that.
