Those are E-Load tires. If you got C-Load you probably wouldn't feel a difference from stock. (very limited options for C-load though)

I’m running 275/70R17 Wildpeak AT3Ws which are C Load and I may have lost 1MPG. Im currently on 2.0 and love it can’t wait for the final to be released. The tune definitely helps the truck and Id recommend to anyone on the fence. I didn’t buy my Taco for fuel efficiency.

Ive been on E rated MT tires for as long as ive pretty much owned my truck. I never had issues. I did this tune and i hold gears and the power is all their on my 255 85 16 Tires with Stock wheels. You are gonna lose MPG when u swap to an aggressive and heavier tire. That is not the tunes fault dude. 2mpg is very reasonable loss for tire change and in your case a wheel difference as well considering some weigh more than factory.

You have a wider tire thats creating more rolling resistance as well. If you were expecting the truck to drive like you have been driving it stock with ovtune for who knows how long. You best think twice lol. I dont even feel like im 33s anymore with this tune. My truck goes like crazy now.

    Not blaming the tune.

The tune isn’t going to work miracles for folks with bigger and aggressive tires. Whereas, I think a re-gear would make more of a substantial difference.

Some people think a regear is very well necessary even at stock but i mean not everyone thinks the same. I cant see why or how you would need a regear with a slightly taller and not that much wider tire lol. Sounds quite excessive to spend 3 grand for just a simple tire swap.

I have to disagree, I put 265/75/16 E ply tires on 9 miles after driving it off the showroom floor. I drove it like that for about 6 months before getting the tune as part of the first group of M/T guys to get the tune. The initial tune was a big improvement and when FOB came out it was huge improvement over all of the previous Beta files. Sans the aggressive tip in of 1.03B..? that I liked because it seemed to get my truck rolling easier.

Re gear your truck and you’ll understand why gears are so beneficial.

I planned to re-gear before I got the wheels, and now I think it’s even more necessary.

I wanted to have 4.88 on a stock wheels.

On 34s no regear and my truck still has big balls. Idk maybe the MT helps. The 2.0 beta had the perfect tip in but now im on the catless tune and not so much. Even so, my truck hauls ass above 3500rpm and im still searching for justification to regear

did you have the tune before and after bigger tires?

I am getting new gears. everyone who gets new gears says the same thing, “should have been the first thing I did”.

    On the AT, yes.

Im not aware of anyone that regeared the MT unless they went 35s or added a 4WC

I was one size up from stock before tune. Then raised it up two more inches and went 34s. I lost what I had gained from 1.05 then gained it back with 2.0 plus some. And I get it. Gears can and do help with tire size that's basic physics. And I probably will regear, eventually. But as well as my truck is currently running its hard for me to justify that much moolah

Yeah I feel like 35s would be the threshold with the mt. 34s aren't quite pushing it, for me

Did someone ask if they tried resetting the learning values on the transmission? I suspect that they would be wonky if there was a change in tire size after primary learning occurred. But could be wrong :notsure:

Shift points would change so maybe the driver needs to relearn ;)
