Maybe I am manual transmission stupid but wouldn't manuals be affected in the same way as automatics when it comes to changing tires since the effective ratios change? Gears are gears regardless of if they are driven by a computer or a person... So wouldn't you need to adjust your shifts to correspond to the new effective ratios? I don't know much about manuals beyond the basics so feel free to roast me here...

Yes to an extent but the gear ratio in the mt differs from that of the auto. But it amounts to shifting at a slightly higher rpm for me. That is all

Still, even if it is different from the auto why wouldn't the driver need to adjust their usual shift points? That's what I am confused by here... I've never had a MT as a daily driver so I really have no experience here...

What I meant was the gears in the mt make the need for regearing after larger tires less noticeable than the auto. But overall yes to achieve the same results in putting power to the road, adjusting shift points higher probably helps. So you're right if that's what you were saying. Still I'm the one making that decision and it's hardly noticeable

Ah ok. Thanks for clarifying. I was very confused by the "3500 is 3500" statement from someone. Not looking to be right.. just looking to learn. Thanks for the info!

Like an early poster said 3500 is 3500,not meaning that he shifts at 3500 but some do. The only thing that tire size or gears will affect is vehicle speed/mph in relation to rpms. So shifting at xRpm is the same but vehicle speed in mph will be different.

I never use 5th gear. I always use either 4th or 6th gear.

I haven’t done the math, but I was hoping 5th would actually become more useful with new gearing.

I went from a 60lb E rated tire to a 50lb C tire and my truck drove like shit. The slightest things will throw everything off. I didn’t reset my Values because I wanted to see
How it would work itself out. Pretty crazy considering they’re the same size just different weights

Less rotating mass will affect load settings. Happened to me. Reset LVs and all is well.

I agree, I guess I don’t see the upside to not resetting them. But people come on and say something is wrong when in fact the values should be reset.

Does that matter on a Manual transmission?

probably just wait until 2.0 comes out to reflash and see what happens.

I would just need to disconnect the battery for a certain time right?
