Probably not as much when compared to an AT, but yes. Using TechStream is the only way I know how to reset values. It may be an option on the later version of flash manager, but I’m an old school dongle user.

The latest version of FM has buttons to reset LV and AT.

It’s been explained in detail in this thread. Resting LV and what a battery disconnect does are separate things and different parameters inside the ECU.

Meh, seems to work for me. I have not seen that on here. It’s what my dealer suggested.

Dealers are filled with a bunch of working morons, just last week someone had a dealer arguing with them telling them the Tacoma has an 8 speed tranny....

All that I can say is that I did battery disconnect and terminal touches for the TSB flash and each of the first few OVT loads. Once the Resets were added to FM, I gave them a shot with a second try of 87 FOB. They totally transformed the experience. Since, I have used the Resets with every tune flash. There have been no remarkable changes since, but I feel it is worth it to do the Resets after flashing a tune and before the 5min idle.

    I could be wrong?

Very true, but a battery disconnect and terminal touch worked wonders on some electrical gremlin issues for me. Less so with tune flashing though.

I have never reset anything upon flashing the first tune on my truck. I haven’t had any issues other than the early 3-4 shift but that is a known issue for 2019+. I’m now on 19770 build of 2.0 trying it out with the 91 performance. After running a good while I’ll swap to 87 performance next and then 87 base just for observation of all the tunes offered as options. I’m kinda hoping there’s a nice feeling with 87 performance until the twins are for sale because 93 octane is 70 cents or more per gallon more than 87 octane here in Alabama. Of course when twins are released I’ll have to run 93 all the time anyway.

Anyway after I try out all the tunes I’ll reset the learned values once just to try that out as well. But for me, my truck runs perfectly fine without any reset which is why I haven’t bothered doing anything but the flash.

With turbo motors in the past, paying for premium was part of the gig. They would run on regular, but the power and MPG loss outweighed the cost of premium. It was only a $0.20/gal difference here. Now, it is about $0.30.

I had thought that the tunes ran really well except for me stalling my first flash of 87 FOB about once per day. Like I said, the Reset were transformational for me and I have only stalled a few times total in the last 15k. That is on me as I don't like to pick up a lot of revs before pulling away but mainly blending the clutch right off idle.

When you have to go to the far ends of the bell curve to make your point, it's not a very good point.

    I will give you that.
