Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I flashed in August 2019 and again in November 2019. I believe in November I reflashed to the same tune I downloaded in August though. I didn't have these issues from April-August when I first got the tune. Should I download and flash a new 1.05 tune? Thank you for the help!

 

It doesn't hurt to get on the latest and greatest beta tune. But as somebody else said, have you flashed back to stock to see if it still does that?

 

I haven't gone back to stock or tried the 2.0 beta yet. I was holding out for the final 2.0, but I may go this route and go back to stock temporarily to see if that fixes the issue.

 

Thanks for the warm welcome! It took a little bit of digging, but this community is full of really helpful people and I was able to find the information I needed without too much work. The hardest part was watching the progress bars while the TSB was installing - my heart was racing a bit.

I had to do a bit more digging to find the Techstream download, but otherwise I followed the instructions in that post in addition to(mostly) following the ECU update advice from @loginfailed in this post.

I had the same problems with Flash Manager myself. The 2.0 Beta is the only tune I’ve used in my 2019 TRDOR. It’s not a huge change from the stock tune, but I never had any of the issues I saw others talking about.

The thing about 2.0 Beta that IS a big difference is the gear lock in S mode with ECT on. As far as I can tell, the torque converter will unlock but it will not downshift. It also helps my gas mileage.

 

Does updating just involve flashing that version of the tune to it? Is there something else to be done to update to a different ECU verison?

Is....is it really that easy? I'm skeptical. Whats the failure rate here? I've had a bricked ECU scare before and I don't want to go back to that very very dark place lol

 

I updated about 10-15 trucks at a Cars N Coffee meet once early last year in the parking lot of the track here in Austin. You can do it!

 

But there's no issue with going from xxx02 straight to xxx04 as opposed to xxx03 to xxx04?

 

Yes it’s that simple. It’s the same process toyota uses. Lots of people have updated.

 

I installed 2.0Beta earlier today. When I was going about 70 on the interstate my rpm was at about 1600. I pushed the ECT button and the rpm didn’t change. I then put it in S mode and bumped it up to 6th gear manually. The rpm went up to 2000 for a while so I put it back in auto. The rpm stayed at 2000 again until I turned off the ECT. It then went back to 1600 rpm. The hwy was completely flat this whole time. I did the same thing a few times with the same results every time. Is the tune supposed to do this or is it something that needs to be fixed before the final release?

I updated all version to 04 directly including 00. You are good to go!

 

adaptive cruise control on?

It would’ve downshifted to 4th when u moved over to S mode then maybe up into 5th and stayed there even when u moved it to S6. But gear lock shouldn’t allow that so I’m wondering if adaptive cruise control was on which disables the tune.

 

What are you expecting? I pushed ECT on my TSB'ed (stock)and rmps did no jump up..Felt perky though..
