yes, but at least we'll know that most of it is 2.0 related. That alone is a major improvement over this current mess.

I don't know of any other software project in the world that doesn't start a new thread with every major release. The length and age of this thread is pure insanity -- borderline useless, even.

Ok, I see your point now. It’s to separate the different tune conversations.
That means Mat would have to jump around and post a lot of the same info in multiple threads. That’s the only downside of separating them that I can see

Here's an example of what I'm referring to. Over at Guru3D, they start a new thread for every minor release of drivers and tools. It makes it much easier for users to search and discuss their specific versions. It also makes it easier to determine the latest and greatest version without much digging or drama. It's extremely easy to follow, reference, and discuss everything.
    https://forums.guru3d.com/forums/videocards-nvidia-geforce-drivers-section.21/

In this case, I don't think there needs to be a new thread with every minor release, but I honestly believe a new thread for major releases like 2.0 would have many benefits. In addition to the clarity it provides for existing customers, it could also double as advertising for @OVTune . The new thread would quickly rise to the top of the 3rd Gen forum and stay there, and every member would recognize that a large update has taken place. That alone could drive new business for Mat, which is win win for everyone IMO.

    My .02.

I think plenty of us would be here to point posters to the new thread if/when they post a question in this old thread.

I also don't think there's much reason to separate MT and AT into separate threads, but that may be too much to ask.

I think Mat's sanity is another reason why the entire discussion of each major release should be limited to a single thread -- and not this one any longer. This one needs to be sent to a retirement home... lol

I'll check with the mods to ensure it's ok to make a new thread. I do like the idea.

    multiple things today.
    1. our server gets here today, I may not be available until this evening as I'll be setting it up
    2. Feedback so far on build 25600 for 5.29 is excellent. Makes me confident on 2.0 release.
    3. Our tax time sale will start today and be available for a while. Will be on site in a moment.
    4. I will be setting up the server, new flash manager, and the release. So I may not be available via this forum as much. I will be on Zendesk as much as possible.

for those who are testing the 5.29 tune, what do you like about it so far? i'm curious. Does it hold gears a bit longer than stock? Can't wait to try it out.

If we are creating a new thread, I’d vote to lock this one with the last post being a link to the new thread with this one persisting as an archive

otherwise you'll just have info spread across two locations. People that aren’t following daily will still show up here and not know there’s a new thread.

Im sending my direct feedback to Mat so that he can have the info he needs without having to be in here all the time and sorting through all the nonsense. But, I will say that it is the best my truck has ever driven.

so, just curious. Are people buying the handheld or just the flash kit with the dongle?

The dongle is a legacy item, use for authenticating the user. If you opted for the flash kit it will come with the obd2 Tactrix cable and a digital license Instead of the dongle.

it seems like the vast majority of users are using the flash kit w/ tractrix cable. There are still some kinks getting worked out the the handheld users that effect a few year models.

FWIW, my 2017 does it, fairly predictably and totally unrelated to the tune (it's been the same since it was new).
If I'm running 87 Octane gas and climbing a grade and the truck upshifts as it hit the upper RPM range, there is an audible "pinging" for a few seconds when the RPMs first drop off with the shift. If I'm logging misfire data, the misfire count goes up in time with the pinging noise. The issue is also the same cold/warm/during a 3-hour trip, etc.

Now, like I said, it did this stock as well, and across all 87-octane OVTunes I've tried (although it does it much less on the OLE 13079 build). If I run 91 Octane gas (tune or no tune), the issue goes away. A buddy has a 2017 SR5 with the 3.5, and has never had the issue even once. So at least in MY experience, on MY truck the issue is unrelated to the tune. Yes I've had it at the dealership, who were "Unable to duplicate the issue".
For now, I run the OLE build and at least the issue is minimized (and the performance is greatly improved, thanks Mat!) and run premium gas when possible.

    YMMV, and likely does :D

    Let's do it.
I thought I was clear in my previous tickets/emails to work with you on this issue.
Again, this is not only happening on my truck and I dont buy the hardware issue.

Okay. Email me on Zendesk lets start right now. Please include any relevant information, what octane you are using, etc. So we can narrow it down on your truck.

To be clear I am not saying it's specifically a hardware issue.
But there is clear evidence in this thread regarding the crank sensor issues, which is hardware. That affected some trucks.

Would hope that these one-off efforts to address individual issues are not impacting development timelines for 2.0 or other products.

OVTune would not put time into something that was not worth doing. Even if not directly related, this is a platform that we can all benefit from even indirectly. Good stuff from all angles.
