@OVTune Are there plans to release v2.0 for 04B02? Toyota doesn't want to update me to 04B04 and I'd rather not do it myself unless it's a requirement to install the new version.

 

Yes, when completed and released it will be for 04B02 and higher

 

It's so sad that Toyota doesn't want to perform such a simple and quick 5 minute job.

 

It's sad, but yea their reasoning is valid. In a safety-first environment, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

 

If it ain't broke then why are there updates?

 

I presume for the ones that ARE broke and require the TSB for the firmware update. My VIN didn't qualify.

Still waiting for my cable - Ordered on Jan 17th... Now a tax time discount is out that wuld have taken $100 off the price and I still haven't been able to use my purchase.

 

You could always cancel your order and order again. Did they charge your card already?

 

Nah there's nothing wrong with it, but I was getting some strong signals from users a couple days ago on this thread that 04B04 was going to be a minimum requirement for 2.0 final. Mine is a 2016 and 04B04 is a valid version for 2016's

 

Yeah, I mean UPS already has the package even though it took them quote some time to get it over to them. OV charges a $120 'cable restocking fee' so I'd be out what I save by reordering at this point.

 

I'm right there with you on the discount. It definitely stings. I ordered on the 16th, just got my cable yesterday and fired up the Tune. The difference it made to my truck was amazing however and i'm happy. Hang in there!

Yeah, I mean ultimately I've been dealing with this lag on the MT since I got the truck and $100 price difference is nothing. I'm hoping this tune rocks my world - I already love the Tacoma a lot

 

Yea, I don't blame them. Hindsight is always 2020. I also just purchased a tune recently, too bad we don't have time machines. Oh well, such is life.

 

That happened to me last year. I ordered a week before the sales and UPS messed up all kinds of shit with the delivery, so I essentially missed out on the discount. But, the tune was worth the old full price $770. It also fixed the weird issue I had with cruise control coasting down hill. So, that made the loss of the discount worth it for me.

 

We are continually trying to stay in stock on cables, but are limited on how many the manufacturer can send at once.
People who are ordering right now will have some wait time for sure, as the banner says. So if you already have an order in, you will be done and tuned before they even get cables

 

I was just looking through your postings but didn't immediately see anything - what was going on with CC when going downhill?

 

I most likely posted about it in the MT thread.

On the Stock and TSB tunes (04B12 and 04B13) after cresting hills, CC would buck and surge the whole way down unless it was a very steep grade. It could not seem to manage giving it just enough throttle to coast and hold speed. There was a section like this on my daily commute and I would just turn CC off for that bit of road.

With OVT now, there is a single, slight stumble just as I crest a hill, but it is butter smooth the rest of the way down. I asked @OVTune about this change and he said that he didn't specifically mess with any part of the OG CC code. Of course, he is working around the 2018+ ACC issues.
