Is the TSB 0062-18 a necessity before any of the tunes? I have not purchased yet. My last TSB was 0077-16. Thanks.

Not a necessity but recommended, in order to update the trans ecu to 04b04
Updated trans ecu should have better shifting, and the tunes that used be released on an earlier timeline were for 04b04

I have been wondering why my 2018 sr5 speedometer was slightly slow. Thanks to Matt and a previous post, I find out that the sr5 tire is 30.47 inches in dia. and the Pro tire is 31.65 inches in dia. Toyota must have just picked in the middle (31 in.) for the ecu on both trucks. Thus, mine is just over 1mph slow at 70mph.

    Thanks guys!

That’s not uncommon for many OEM speedos to underreport speed by 1-3 mph at highways speeds.

I suppose that under reporting the displayed speed is a cya for toyota's protection?

With tire sizes and speedometers, the variances for displayed speed will actually change based on actual speed. It's a percentage variance, not a fixed variance, and said percentage is based entirely on revolutions per mile. The faster or farther you go, the higher the variance.

For example, my own tires look like this:
    31" Stock tires: 682 revs/mile
    33" Coopers: 632 revs/mile

    682/632 = 1.079

So, in order to get both my actual speed or mileage, I simply multiply each displayed value by 1.079 -- which can also be described as a 7.9% variance.

    In practice:

    Displayed speed: 30.00 mph
    Actual speed: 32.37 mph
    Variance: 2.37 mph

    Displayed speed: 80.00 mph
    Actual speed: 86.32 mph
    Variance: 6.32 mph

    Displayed mpg average: 16.00 mpg
    Actual mpg: 17.26 mpg
    Variance: 1.26 mpg

    Displayed mpg average: 20 mpg
    Actual mpg: 21.58 mpg
    Variance: 1.58 mpg

    etc.

Of course, all of the above assumes that the factory ECU settings match the factory tires, which isn't always the case. the math should be close enough to help you avoid speeding tickets, though. :D

(NOTE: you can find most revs/mile info on the tire manufacturer web pages).

so does that mean you don’t need to write separate tunes for 4.88 and 5.29 in all the different flavors of ECUs and octanes now? Just use 1 primary tune for each ECU then change the input to 4.88 or 5.29 and it’ll automatically adjust its own shifting to suit?

handhelds are sold out until further notice.

we received an email from the manufacturer that there will be a significant delay in restocking.
Some of the components are having delays exporting due to the Coronavirus.

Thanks to this amazing community and the folks willing to help test out, we have confirmed that both Gear settings (3.909, 4.3, 4.88, 5.29) correct shifting on stock tires and tire size calibration fixes gear shifting on larger tires.

The correction makes the truck shift where it SHOULD shift at as if the truck was stock with a tune.

that's amazing news and significantly reduces creating of shift maps for trucks with different mods.

We can now simply input the required settings right into the same tune and it's ready to go.

Does this mean there will be another drop down menu for tire size for each tune?

How can we still order the HH units and use the discount? On the OV page is SOLD OUT and no orders can be placed...that means no discount available.

He could do it like he did for the M/T pre orders years ago. Place the order with a $1.00 cost as a pre order and charge the balance when they ship...
