Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Anyone who received the email with the 1.02C update file for their vehicle needs only to select and flash one of the files to the ECM. No TCU update necessary.

for anyone who has never updated on 04B02, you will use the TCU 1.02BB which I've sent




For people with 04B03, no need to worry about anything "TCU" related

 

Some people doing this may be confused. This is what you chose to flash the ECM

So when I go to select a file I noticed it doesn't show anything in the folder I downloaded the files to. It appears it's looking for a .bin file and not a .hex file as the format the new tunes came in. Am I missing something here or do I just need to show all files and select the .hex that was sent to me? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I don't want to brick my ecu

 

My previous version tunes were .BIN and loaded.
I noticed the new (today) batch of files is .HEX. I selected it and loaded fine.
When it is searching for files check "all files" so it's not looking for a particular format.

I haven’t even flashed to the new hotness yet. Rotated my tires / rear diff. Oil change / rotate on the 4runner. Busy little day.

There really needs to be an update to the OP for complete tuning newbs. I'm so lost now.

 

Not sure about any others that were missed, but I received my files from Matt about an hour ago. This includes the 1.02BB file that Matt refers to in post #7209 above.

Well, 1 booty call, a visit to the asian massage parlor, and 20 minutes of watching brazilian fart porn and the anticipation bonor is still raging. Only 1.02C will relieve it I guess.

I agree I'm pretty tech savvy but this has been confusing as shit. Looking through my emails trying to piece this thing together has been a cluster. At the end of the day I just flashed my TCU with the latest TCU file sent 1.02BB, and ECU with 1.02C. I have no idea what 04b01 is but the files seemed to work. First test drive at 9k elevation is pretty promising. The truck is still an under powered dog but at least it will downshift now and hold a gear. ECT mode is perfect I wish it would just stay on all the time.

 

Alright guys, here’s the process:

Order a kit

You’ll receive a tatrix OBD cable and a guardent security dongle.

Youll input your dongle info into the PCM flash software (which you download on your own)

This will allow you to read your ECU data.

Read ECU data

Email the file to Matt.

Matt will reply to your email with a file for you to write to your ECU
