I have followed this thread from day one, read every page but I still don't know if I would be wasting my money or not. Due to medical reasons I don't drive my truck (TRD OR AT) that much, I probably put 100-150 miles on it a month, I have a SSP that I really like but would get the tune if I knew the tune would learn in the little amount miles and time I drive. I really can't say the truck has learned my driving habits with the stock tune. Any words of wisdom would help!

If you're doing 100 Miles a month I'd probably say the SSP on the aggressive setting will keep you happy(granted your mpg will drop). The more miles I got on the truck the more noticeable the idiosyncrasies became, so when this was announced I knew I needed to have it.

frustrated with your truck's driving? get it.

    not frustrated? save your bones.

speaking for myself it would not have anything to do with how much i drive it. i like things to work when i use them regardless of how often. just my 0.02.

I was real excited when the tune came out too but with this ecu having to learn kinda made me come back to reality. I don't really know what my mpg is. I run 91 octane just for the performance. I think your right about the SSP.

    I'd say get the tune
You probably spent 35k for your truck, $700 more is nothing to have it drive like it's suppose to.

    I have a couple questions. :)

Thanks for making that video. Should make the whole process easier.

Is it just one file you flash? Or is there a transmission one and an ecu one? Seems like so many files. Or is it just ingore them all and for the one you flashed in the video?

Octane levels. Does OV ask what sort of files you want? I see in your folder you have an 87 and a 93. Can one request a 91 map? They don't have 93 where I live. Or does that mean I am stuck with an 87 octane tune? I know with a turbo tuned car there is a diff between 93 and 91 octane.

One flash for the ECU if you have the newest TSB to address shift enhancements from Toyota.

Dyl0n runs 93 because it's in his area, I think 91 or higher is recommended for the tune, which you should be able to find locally.

Ah got it. The ecu and tcu updates are all done in one single flash. I wasn't sure if they were separate.

91 I can find. I was just worried if it's tuned for 93 and I'm running 91 it could affect the tune.

The tune can adjust down and stay safe, you won't need to worry for daily driving. This is more of a factor for track times if it were a sports car.

Since this is a truck, I would just recommend staying with 87 octane and his respective tune. The rig drives quite smoothly and responsive. 93 octane with the respective tune doesn't win races anyway.

How's your chirps? Whether stock or OVTuned, my chirps are a hell of a lot less annoying and quiet when I'm running premium vs. regular. It's almost worth an extra few bucks at the pump for that alone with those damn noisy injectors :)
