Its been awhile since I have checked into this thread. I wanted to know if there are any users out that preferred the updated Toyota tune ; whichever applicable revision it may be per your ECU ID over the OVTune? I'm not discouraging or talking bad about the OV Tune in anyway shape or form.

I have been a user since the original beta when Matt first started this, the tune has been run on my fathers truck. I have run all the versions including the 2.0 beta, running 93 for them all. The feedback I have derived from my father is that the Toyota update that changed the ecu ID from 04B03 to 04B04 has performed flawlessly. I have even run the OV Tune on top of the Toyota update and actually ended up sticking with the Toyota update. So far since owning the truck new from 2016, this is the first time for about 4 months now that the truck has been on the toyota tune. Most of its life it was on OV Tune and my dad says he honestly prefers the Toyota tune over it.

Maybe the final 2.0 will have everything ironed out as mentioned for me to give it one last go on my dads truck. Overall he says that the Toyota tune has the smoothness and power there consistently, compared to 1.05 and the 2.0 beta which left the truck feeling as if it was not consistent when giving input via the accelerator. The truck is running 265/75/16 tires, trd intake, urd mk2 y pipe and trd exhaust. I hope to see the 2.0 version release soon and be able to put that on my fathers truck for his feedback.

I have a set of the catted dump tubes brand new in box waiting for the newest release to either be installed or sold. Is there a chance the catted tubes can be paired with the toyota tune and still allow for improved throttle response, etc?

Sorry for this long mixture of words, I just wanted to share the feedback I had been given from my dad and ask others of their experience. Thank you and hope you're all staying safe!

I agree with renlo. I have the new 2019 beta installed and have only one suggestion... increase throttle tip in slightly. Take the mid-point of the 19800 performance tune and this one and this would pretty much be perfect.

I've been running 1.05 with premium gas for about a year I think, and updated from 04b02 to 04b04 about a month ago.

So far I haven't flashed OVTune back onto it, partly because I've been waiting for 2.0 final (soon?), and partly because I've been pretty impressed with the new ECU, and partly because I've been lazy, and then not driving around much.

Shifting concerns are more or less resolved in 04b04 for me, though it does seem to be missing a bit of pep.
Every time I think I should just flash 1.05 back on, I check this thread and think, well maybe just hold off for 2.0

I don't really want to run 2.0 beta because I want ECT and I don't want gearlock.

I too thought 04b04 tsb update was not bad to drive. Not to long after i flashed 1.05 and now on 2.0 beta. I want ect back and tried going back to stock, but FM doesn’t seem to have the file for us dongle guys.

Maybe I can try flashing the tsb using techstream again, but I’m afraid to damage my ecu. Maybe someone can chime in on this?

I am getting 5.29 gears Friday. Is there a bata tune I can get please. I am a 2016 04b04 AT. You can DM to keep yourself secret.....

But if that doesn’t work do y’all think I should retune and rest all values after the gears are installed?

yes i have seen some that prefer the revised stock tune from Toyota, two or three reports of that. of course most who prefer that won't be around here. but the significant driveability issues in the original factory tune were fixed in the revision. your dad isn't wrong, and it's a preference for everyone.

re: your catted dump tube question, yes i have seen reports of a reasonable throttle response and mid to high range flow improvement even on the stock exhaust. but for that, with stock exhaust & factory tune, i wouldn't say it's worth the effort to change and risk small things like a bolt snapping, a sensor fault and blinking lights, etc. if i were you i would sell them new. and maybe your OV kit as well?

So WOT the 2-3 shift still hiccups. It doesn’t bounce off the rev limiter anymore, it does shift, but then it drops down and stutters before it gets going again. If I stay out of WOT the tune is as perfect as I think it can be.

I wonder if this is a tune issue or a fuel pump recall issue. It doesn’t do it on the stock tune though.

Holy shit, you got one guy saying the tip in is too aggressive then you have another requesting for more tip in. This tune will never release. Smh

One of Mats 2.0 beta releases had ECT. It’s the tune that I’m running now

Just under 100. It did this on the previous 2.0 beta for thousands of miles so I doubt “learning” has anything to do with it.

Who said that the latest 2019 beta tip-in is "too aggressive"? Link please.

I think you may have misunderstood someone.

Been on the stock tune for a few weeks now. I wasn't a fan of 19800; seemed to drag off the line compared to stock; shifting was odd at highway speeds. Tried 19770 and liked it better but off the line it was too reactive.
Just flashed to the 2019 beta, don't have many miles yet but it appears nicely torque-ier on the highway. Off the line/tip-in, it drags way more than 19800. Felt like I was dragging a trailer. Once it gets going, it's got good throttle response. I also hope the 2.0 final does not have that same slow build off the line. It's pretty noticeable and annoying.
