It appears that if you don't come here to this thread and make a bunch of enemies, you could find someone in your area with the same ECU and share the cost? At least that's what I'm getting out of what Mat said. I'm not exactly sure how this benefits Mat in the long run, but I guess he has that part figured out.

Imagine being one of the OG users of this tune, paying $765 for it, then being asked to pay $79 additional years later for the same thing guys will pay $500 for.

That’s one way to look at it but then again same thing applies to new vs used vehicles. I may have paid close to 40k for my new 2019 where’s later on someone could pay 30k +/- for same truck. Then there’s Microsoft Windows xp that cost 200 new and later on only 100 or less.

I’m still satisfied with my purchase so that’s all that matters to me at this point. Hoping the throttle changes on 2.0 final to he nearly exactly like 19800 and everything else remain the same as it is on this newest 2.0 beta released for our 2019 trucks with all the issues we had.

I’m not so worried about the $79 to move forward. What I am worried about are the dollars I put out many moons ago for a flash accessory that I still haven’t received. For what I paid for that I could have a dedicated tuning laptop and the VF tool. Just need to figure out the accessory handheld bit.

I know it’ll all get sorted, but the waiting is tough. Original original (big boy) dongle.

Im not on either side of the camp on this subject, but your analogy is off.

The difference would be you paying 40k for a new 2020 truck and then 5 years later somebody else only pays 30k for a new 2025 truck with the same exact features

That stuff happens every day. Same thing with automotive when air conditioning first came standard on vehicles. People paid much more for air conditioning upgrade and then see it come standard on newer vehicles shortly after. Then there’s manufacturing cost decreases where it costs much less to manufacture something and price goes down accordingly. It’s life.

Not my argument. I was just fixing the analogy.
And there is no new model vehicle that goes down in new price 5 years later. That’s another bad analogy

For us Tacoma owners that have used our Flash Kit to load our favorite tune, will we be able to retrieve that tune from are ECU with vF Tuner? That way we can make small tweaks to are favorite tune, like adjusting our tip in to our liking, etc.

Make sure to check the box for the legacy drivers, that will allow the pcm file version of the tune, hope that helps.

    Sweet, sweet, sweet...

I drove again on the stretch of long incline freeway where in order to maintain 65 mph, my foot on the gas would gradually go deeper and deeper while losing speed, and eventually it would jump from 5th to 3rd, rev up and pick up speed, go to 4 and 5, and repeat the pattern to 3.

Well, it doesn't do that anymore. It goes nicely from 5 to 4, back to 5, and back to 4 if needed. Excellent !

Which? Can you message me an order number, or name? So I can get that figured out.

19800 needs a tad bit more throttle response and better pedal input to throttle output ratio. There is still some slight dead spots where you have to push more pedal input to get a small amount of output. The final 2.0 map should fix that being one complete custom linear map

You can request it from me. The tunes cannot be read from the ECU once flashed. I lock the ECU.

I look at it like I paid for a solid tune that improved on the inefficient manufacturer’s stock tune. I have, or soon will have that.

If I want to make any changes to personalize that tune; then I can pay $79 for that ability, but I in effect got what I contracted for.

If I lost out on availability of the original product due to a situation outside all of our control; then another option is planned to be available “soon”. I get that it sucks to have to wait even longer, but the new product will likely be less expensive and have additional capabilities. I paid more but have improvements sooner. If I had waited for 2.0, I wouldn’t have had the benefits of 1.03, .04, or .05.

Any Dongle user who would agree to returning their dongle, can have vF for no charge.
it will switch you to dongle-less software at the same time.

    How about that?

I’m an OG dongle user. I’ll definitely do this if the offer is legit.
