The 2.0 file is locked and users of VFtuner will not be able to modify mats personal tune. You tune from scratch. All you get is the tuning software and the key to unlock your ecu.

I’m tired of hearing people blame this on electronic throttle. My wife’s 2018 Highlander has electronic throttle on basically the same engine as our trucks, and it does not have this on/off behavior. The engine starts responding immediately when I put pressure on the pedal, and it does so predictably and proportionately. No lag. No lurch.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the throttle, how and when it starts to change position all in the ECU.
but no matter what I do, when I change the initial throttle opening
(this area, basically) the amount of people who don't like it outweigh the people who do.

    Just curious,
    Values are throttle opening?
Horizontal axis (not shown) is pedal dispacement?
What is vertical axis on this chart?

I drove a rental 2020 Tacoma Offroad a couple weeks ago. The throttle and shifting was PERFECT.
Is there anybody that went from another model 3rd gen to a 2020? Can you tell the difference. It just felt like it had so much more torque. It felt much better than my 2019 with 2.0 Beta

After 2.0 is released and OV goes to vF....say my current computer stops working/breaks/stolen/etc; will I still be able to get a new reg key for a new windows machine, so I can continue using FM? I would assume so, yes?

I have no intention of buying vF, my time is limited as-is; I don’t have enough hours in the day to learn tuning software.

This is incorrect. If people would stop spreading false info this thread would probably be a lot cleaner and easier to follow.

In trying to wrap my head around how vF will work would it be a good comparison to say it is an enthuist/home use tool like HP Tuners? I haven't looked at HPT in nearly a decade so I don't know what you could do with it today but from what I remember it was a data logger/ECU tuner and people were using it heavily to tune their LS1/2/ect cars.

    Edited, words are hard

This is my understanding of vF. Basically HP Tuners for Toyota ECUs.

I’d be glad to pay you for a custom tune when 2.0 final releases with whatever you have going on plus change throttle back to what it was at 19800. The truck drives great as it is now with the updated tune and plenty of power and decent fuel economy. Just extremely quarky throttle at beginning. Stock was weird at takeoff also but was still very predictable and linear. This one is quite unpredictable and very difficult to master where the sweet spot is to drive a normal drive from takeoff to full driving speed.

The 2019 and 2020 tunes have very little differences though.
Same torque tables, throttle, shifting, etc. All the same.

That’s what I thought. I have 33s on my 2019 so it’s not really comparable to a 2020 with stock tires.
Hopefully the 2.0 final will be a big improvement over the 1.05 and 2.0 Beta for the 2019 and 2020 trucks
