He needs one of those boxes on his website where you can put your email address and be notified when available. "Soon" is making me anxious. :annoyed:

I don’t have enough free time or care enough to check people’s profile.

And, don’t you have over 5,000 messages and I only have less than 500? o_O

    Don’t be mad, bro. :D

You quoted the correct answer in your post, for those of us that have the flash kit you can request the full tune from him directly to be modified by yourself in vF. That is my understanding of this process.

For those that do not yet have a flash kit, they will get an example tune which is a base tune to be modified. For example, “OLE Performance” or something along those lines. So you can just flash that tune out of the box and start enjoying an improved experience but if you want to modify further you can. You will not be “tuning from scratch” as the other individual stated.

What it looks like to be based on reading Mat’s posts, people will essentially be designing their own 2.1 from a menu of options. “The math is all done” and many of his other comments lead me to believe that you will be selecting a tip in level, tire size, gear size, ECT button function, etc. There doesn’t appear at least that much actual tuning will be done by the end user.

I could be totally wrong here but that is what his posts seem to indicate.

My only question is where does the custom tuning that we paid for when we first bought this tune come into play? I understood this whole game to be that Mat would be releasing canned tunes and then HE would be providing a more fine tuned flash for our individual truck based on our datalogs and preference. Not that we would be paying again to have the ability to do that ourselves. If that is no longer the case, I believe that all current flash kit users should all be getting free access to vF for their own truck (or ECU ID as it happens) not just dongle users.

Certainly not facts, my best guesstimate. The “fact” is that you won’t be tuning from scratch. That much we know.

The best thing to do if you want only “facts” is to just use the arrows at the bottom of each of Mat’s posts but I put the word fact in parentheses because even those, call them tidbits of information, are subject to change.

Yes, went from a ‘19 to the ‘20 and it’s definitely a different driving experience! It’s as if Toyota Corporate talked to Mat and incorporated some of his tuning skills.

The software will give you the ability to create from an example tune, or design one all your own. The hard math is done...but it's a bit more than just selecting things like that. (although you could).
The only reason for making that offer to the dongle owners is because they have always refused to switch software in the past, which makes me have to do double the work for about 100 people, vs a few thousand non dongle owners.

A long long time ago we posted in here that the volume of tacomas we tune will make it impossible to individually fine tune each one, and the best we can provide is as many options as possible for tunes.

Also, I am getting some messages asking about handhelds. Sorry for the confusion on this everyone, I know it can be a little confusing. I am going to try to clear it up.

    1. This does not affect OFTs or Accessory handhelds. OFTs will get a version of vF tuner that works with them, Accessory handhelds will still get 2.0 when released. If you want a tune version on your Accessory handheld right now, then send us a message and I'll set you up, so you can use it instead of waiting.
    2. There will not be any more handhelds going into the future. Can't get ahold of the company, back logs on hardware is months or longer.
    3. You do not have to have vF Tuner to use *any* product you bought from us.
    4. vF Tuner is an entirely new, separate software than the flash kits, dongle version flash kits, etc.
    5. vF Tune example tunes are not the same tunes that came with the flash kit. ONLY Flash kit owners have access to those exact tunes. Now if a flash kit owner wanted to share those tunes via vF, if they want to modify them and resell them, if they want to provide that, is entirely up to them.

Basically, I am working on 2.0 final, and taking my hands off the wheel. We will still support the Tacom through vF Tuner and Flash kit owners with their needs (software registration, etc), but it is honestly an impossible task to make tunes that everyone likes. So the next best thing is provide you the tools, and guidance to create what you want.
vF Tuner will come with (as I make them) videos about how to use the software, basic tuning fundamentals, understanding the basic logic of toyota ecus, etc. You could use our software and materials and even become a toyota tuner yourself.

OFT handheld here. 2.0 final should be as good as it gets so I'll be happy with that. Without your years of work on this there would be no tune available for us so thanks. :hattip:
