Until everything is done and ready I am not going to be answering any more questions on the forum, because now people are asking to trade their dongles in and get their copy of vF Tuner right now...when it is not even released.

Semi lurked this thread and still feel like a slow person. Will the 2.0 be for the 2020 Tacoma? Also, is this just a software that needs to be uploaded to the vehicle via a windows based computer? What type of cord is used to perform this? And to be clear, it will not void the warranty, correct?

A tactrix openport cable is used into an obd2 plug, As far as ive educated myself.....if warranty work needed to be performed, you can just flash back to stock and take it in. I am not sure if its like ford where they know that the ecu has been tampered with, regardless if a factory tune is on it when they look at it. And lastly, yes the 2020 was/is included.

edit.. yes a windows based computer or Apple with a hard drive partition running windows in that partition. If you dont already have a flash kit from him though, my info is subject to change regarding the cable part of it all. Best bet is to let the economical dust settle and just try to stay updated on his website or here.

Thank you! I will be keeping the ECT on until then. I just got a 2020 and have not owned a taco since I sold my 05 8 years ago. This stuff is above my head.

Ok, so now I'm confused and I don't want to bug Mat and @OVTune . So, if anyone can chime in and offer some clarity I would appreciate it.

I'm a Newly minted Tacoma owner and fell down the rabbit hole really deep, really fast. I bought this from a guy selling his Tacoma. I am assuming it's the dongle version?.
    OV Tune.jpg

I emailed @OVTune with the barcode on the device, to inquire about purchasing a license. I am told $375 US, totally cool, and received a case file #. I am waiting patiently like everyone else for the 2019 AT Tune ver 2.0 to be made available.

Am I gonna be good to go with this?

Or, do I now also need to purchase Vf tune? I'm confused. Also, I was not really looking to mess around with custom tuning this and that, although it sounds great for the future once I wrap my head around this whole tuning thing. Thanks for any clarity you guys can provide. :hattip:

I submitted a Zendesk ticket to convert from dongle to p5f licensing now, rather than later -- and that is NOT with the intent of getting vfTuner right now. That part of any exchange can wait (or never happen at all for all I care).

The reason I'm requesting it now, rather than later, is because I'm tired of being treated and described as a burden to your release process. I would also like the ability to test the latest p5f files for my 2019 since it doesn't look like you're ever going to release the pcmflash (dongle) equivalent that was originally planned for March 23rd.

PLEASE respond here or Zendesk and let me know what you need from me to convert from pcm (dongle) to standard p5f licensing for OVtune.

You should be good to go and should not need to wait for the vf software nor need to do any custom tuning.

Have you requested a registration key from OVTune as yet? Instructions for getting that are available from the OVTune Website. Once you send Matt information pulled from your truck, he will send you the registry key that you can use to load any tunes that he had made available for your truck's ECU.

Edit: Found the page with the instructions here: (https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/tacoma-3-5-flash-kit-instructions)

that is the newest flash unit (NOT AN OLDER DONGLE UNIT). you will need a license, and register that unit, to you and ONE LAPTOP. send a ticket the zendesk. welcome, and enjoy. Ski

Roger. Thanks, @skidooboy for clarifying what kind of unit I have. Ok, I did send a request to @OVTune , zendesk back in the beginning of March with a pic of my unit and barcode. I received a response and ticket #, telling me it would be $375 us and I would receive an invoice, I'm assuming once ver 2.0 is released. All good.

I'm not panicking, just wanted the clarification with what unit I had and vf tuner thing.

    I appreciate all the responses.

    it is $325, not $375.
You don't have to purchase vF Or anything else.

Yep pretty much what I said earlier

False. A fully refined full version tune was released over a year ago. And Guess what, after taking feedback from THIS community, building it based on their feedback, specifically what they requested, it had mixed reviews. So a decision was made to create yet another version.
Only the newest version ECUs (2019, 2020) are on 2.0 betas, and the 2019 only because of some issues with that which I have gone about at length.

Posts like this once again are just pot stirring BS, which this community is quite good at.

Our editor is actually FULLY finished and works flawlessly, and is being used right now on several lexus cars. So talk more unnecessary shit about which you don't even know, I've been working on it for more than 2 years.

I will respond to your zendesk on how to return the dongle to get switched.

Does nobody read what I post? Why the hell do I waste so much time here.

you dont have to wait until 2.0 final is released. you can get your license, register your laptop, download the latest flash manager, and latest 2.0 beta tune for your 2019. it actually is a great product. good luck, Ski

Has enough testing and logging been completed at this point for you to properly address the 2019-specific issues, or do you still need more feedback?

    Perfect, thank you!
