I've been on 285's for about 2 years no gears or tune but ran I did run ECT ALL the time. Since adding the 1.05 tune a couple months ago I no longer run ECT. I get 14-15mpg but my truck has also become quite heavy with all the other mods and I dont drive slow. Hopefully I'll be getting 5.29's this year.

@OriginalMan, please don’t offer any feedback to my 285 w/ Ovtune post. Your input to this thread towards Mat & Ovtune or anyone else has been a crock of shit. You need to just sit back and wait for 2.0. You have nothing nice or positive to say.

Agreed. Can I only follow Matt within this thread? I need actual information, nothing else.

I think you can subscribe to only OVtune posts too. That may be a moot point since he is probably not going to be around here much anymore.

285/55/20 ‘s. (32.4”)....... stock gears, 2.0 beta, 91 octane. 18- 19mpg’s ..... also Hypertech speedo calibrated so should be fairly accurate.

Does the speedo calibration have anything to do with MPG calculation? For some reason I remember seeing that the MPG calc/display got its info from the ECU directly.

285’s here. Just got my 5.29’s done.
With new tune (2019 beta 2.0) my MPG has gone from 13.5 ish (+/-.3) to, so far, over 15. Second tank with the gears and tune. I also have a lot of stuff on my truck.

Prior tune was 2.0 beta drop 2 for 04B31

The Speedo calibration does not affect the MPG calculator or ODO. Just alters the readout.

I'm definitely ready to get rid of my 275 70 17 E-Load KO2s. They're loud, MPG sucks, and ride is rough AF. 265 70 17 C-Load Wildpeaks are in the near future.

Also, OG Dongle user here. Tuned since 1.02, currently on 2.0 beta. Super excited for 2.0 final. Probably won't mess with the new VF software but I'll trade out my dongle if it makes thing easier. Gonna be hard getting used to a dongle-less lifestyle though :(

best MPG I’ve seen is about 17 mpg highway, 14/15 city. 285 E load st maxx. 2.5” lift and about 250lb total of added weight. 5.29 gears and was running 4.88 2.0 beta 91 octane tune. I havnt logged a lot of miles with this setup but think if I kept it down around 60/65 as opposed to 65/70 I could see 18-19mpg. These are all corrected for tire size with scan gauge.

    incorrect.

The calibrator effects: speedo, odo, mpg, and everything else that can be displayed in the cluster.

I just did the HyperTech speedo this week. Filled up to reset MPG, and immediately saw an increase. Also MPH was fixed. This was better than putting smaller tires in the front and bigger in the rear.

I do kinda miss the previous same size c load tires as I got literally almost 2mpg better all round.
    4.88's
    Lifted 2.5ish"
Mobtown low pro winch bumper (no winch),
No armor but for TRD skid plate so no real weight other than the 80lb bumper
    OG dongle since 1.04.
Honestly, if after break-in period, 2.0 is better than the beta, I'm just going to flash it that once and be done with it, no VF.
If I really feel it needs tweaking, I'll bite with the new software and attempt the "perfect" tune.
