If you buy a laptop with windows 10 s, you have the option of switching it to windows 10 home or pro. After switching it, you can now install 3rd party apps.

It is but if its just going to be a dedicated tuning laptop, it really wont matter.

My 17 did this as well, pretty much since day one if I ran 87 octane. Thing is, it also did it stock, and on any 87 octane OVtune. Running at least 91 Octane just seems to make mine run better all around.
Funny thing is, a friend has a 2017 like mine, and he's never once heard any pinging and he only runs 87 octane, go figure.

Same here. Pings on downshift under load.
Did on original stock, tsb, 1.05, 1.05.1 and all iterations of 2.0.
I believe it did on 93 octane as well on early versions of 2.0 beta

That's what I did on mine, swapped it to Home as part of my set up for it to be my tuning laptop
Correct, and that's fine. My little HP has 4gb of RAM and 64GB of hard disk space. More than enough to smoothly run OV software, Google Chrome, Techstream, etc
    This.

    I
I was off OVTune since September of last year. A few month ago I got a customized 2.0 version to deal with some other issue and was not paying attention to pinging.
I'm sure it is there on 87 octane.

I haven't noticed any pinging running 19800 87 on a 19, but I use 90 oct fuel. Might hit 50's for the first time this weekend. For the 17 there is a 2.0 beta. Near the bottom of the list. https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/2-0-public

I wonder if it could be related to the switchover from Winter to Summer gas blends?
