Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Did you send just the small USB dongle or the whole kit?

 

I’m curious if it is such a good idea to send it back until you know you will get something back in return as far as far turn-around. My reasoning here is:

What if you need to flash a different tune do to gas, problem, etc..., but can’t because you have no dongle.

Just playing scenarios here.

 

process will go like this>
email us for conversion
follow email instructions to return usb dongle (purple, mini black usb only)
download p5f software
send us registration info
we confirm dongle is received, we send you registration and vF Tuner registration.

 

There is nothing physical for him to send back.

 

Just sent the dongle.

Uh, no. They can read the previous post by OVtune. That's all we need is 50 pages of the exact same post.

 

Right. Reposting is just enabling the people who insist on not reading two or three pages that they're behind on and jumping to the end and asking about what they missed

 

You're not wrong, but instead we're going to have 50 pages of people asking how to switch from dongle to vf.

Im interested in picking up an OVtune for my 3rd Gen tacoma, I noticed last year there was an OBD2 dongle kit for roughly $600. In looking at the website I noticed that isnt an option anymore, how would I go about aquiring the Ovtune system?

 

just tried to run p5f flash utility in the menu of the flash manager and it's grey'd out. anyone else notice this. have 1.30 flash manager.

 

go back to the main menu - Configure button then click Purge then click Install all software - then go to Tuning and install OVTune Cable drivers - then to Help and click update - check to be sure you have proper ecu selected - then go back to p5f and try again. ???

 

never mind virus scanner picked up the .exe. thanks everyone.

 

Does it matter if I flash my 2018 Taco with OVTune if my truck does not have the latest TSB?

 

So if I don’t trade in my dongle I don’t get 2.0?

Lately there has not been a tune for 04A60. You have to get the latest tsb and change to 04A61. You can do it yourself with Techstream.

 

I'm running OVTune 1.05 for 87 octane at the moment. I assume I should use the flash manager to go back to stock then run techstream?
