Probably the only real difference you will feel is in your wallet. Some will say they notice a difference - depends on how they drive and what if anything they tow. 87 works fine for me here at 6800 ft in town and s mode for towing. It all comes down to how much you want to spend.

I support you on this. One approach to assessing this - is it Toyota's intent, outside of the cleaning cycle which has not changed, to use port injection for the purpose of cleaning or for other performance/functional reasons. If the latter, Toyota's cleaning logic is 100% still intact.

Noticed that the stock P265/65R17 tires on my '17 Sport are 30.6 dia. So I re-flashed from 87 base to 87 31-33.
I probably won't be able to test it out until Wednesday.

Now that the “tip-in” issue has been resolved, we have a new issue to debate endlessly.

I can see Vlady's concern after looking into his graphs, i'm suprised he's getting as much flack for it from others. based on the graphs he's shared, the engine looks to be running in a much different way than previously. Truth is, we wont really know how it effects the engine longevity or life without running it, it deff gets you thinking. Looking at his graphs, it looks like previously it ran in direct for maybe what? 30% of the time? that is being bumped up to what looks like 90+% of the time looking at those graphs. I understand why it's tuned this way from the info Matt shared, but will those High psi injectors hold up to this increase in usage over the long haul? will valves stay clean? I don't really expect Matt to have an answer for that but are valid points imo.

I miss the tip-in argument. Just when you think it can’t get any worse...

The injector that is used is almost always dependent on what RPM and load is.

Lets say you take a stock truck, and you drive often above 3000 RPM.
then port injection will never be used.

But yes if you stay in the 1000 to 2000 rpm range, it will be used more often than with our current tune.

The difference is 'tip-in' is a feeling, acquired taste or preference.

This DI vs PI issue has empirical data from the ECU.

@OVTune is there some sort of ETA for handheld files so we can also help test this 2.0 release?

Can someone with a 2019, that's running the new version of 2.0, gather data also?

With the way these trucks all exhibit different characteristics, even being same year and ECU. More data gathering on different ECU versions is important.

For all we know right now, Vlady's truck DI an PI operation could be just and issue with his vehicle.

Matt, it would probably clear up concerns if you post up DI and PI data from your truck that's running the new 2.0.

The current 2.0 on 2019s does not have this.

I agree. It just seems like other companies have decent reliability now days and I guess I'm just not understanding still why no company in the business has really tried. (Superchips, bullydog, etc)

I just did a little research on this though and it sure is interesting.

Toyota is rated by J.D. Power as number 3 in dependability, and thats only under Lexus and Porsche. (really good)

For 2016 the Tacoma did not rate well, as it was number underneath the frontier, colorado, and canyon respectively.

And apparently, you REALLY DO NOT WANT A 2016 TACOMA.

Im good. Mine is a 2018.

Truck picture is just for attention. ;) I was checking for rubbing at lock, trying to maintain sanity in week 4 of quarentine. Losing my mind. Turns out my ramps definitly are not big enough.

Ok, will the 2.0 version for the 2018 or 2020 model have this new DI/PI change?
