Yea I get that for sure, I’m asking about the “injector cleaning cycle.” Curious if thats that change in engine sound during an idle that happens every few minutes is this?

Clearly this is opinion, because various people are responding in differnet ways, but can someone objectively clarify how often these injections should be happening with the 3rd gen taco specifically? I’d default to trusting OVTune 100%, but for the rest of us who are impartial (or in other words ignorant), is this something that’s even worth looking into? Any 3rd party outside of OVTune able to speak to this objectively with some insights from the data quoted above?

we’ve been for @Vlady to specify the required values but shockingly that hasn’t happened. Mat has already said earlier today it’s working as designed.

Is there a way to throw an extra cleaning in every 5,10 or 15 mins of driving? Could we agree on that? We could all put this debate to sleep.....I come on this thread once every update....it’s like the bachelor met a Spanish novela.

You can make it however you want with vf. Just like the tip in and shift points.

this is exactly why vf is the future. No two people or trucks are the same.

@OVTune I'll be happy with whatever tune you make based off of your data.

Do I have to have a handheld to do vf? I really don’t want to mess with stuff I don’t know what I’m doing. Just uploading tunes is the extent to my fast and furious knowledge. I’m not racing white jettas at race wars

BTW do we have to pay for VF on top of the regular ovtune? Sorry if this has been asked.

I thought you were out. I just had to catch up 10+ pages of nothing but your dumpster fire. Post something outside of the same data over and over. What research has been done to show what is necessary for clean valves? You still haven't provided a source.

FUCK. I don't know how he deals with this shit. I just came to see how other people were ENJOYING their new tunes. As for myself, tip in is much less jumpy out of the gate and I've seen an increase in mileage. Shifting doesn't seem better or worse that I've noticed, I didn't have a problem with 1.05. The whole thing seems more mild, but the power you want is there.

    Sure.
Here is more refined look at the injection mode.
For total engine run time 2869 sec, injection mode switched to Either mode(assuming either is Port+Di) for whooping 27 sec. (24 at start up, 2nd spike is 1 sec, 3rd -2 sec)
So my math was spot on, we have full DI injection. Engine ran in Direct Mode 99.06%.
Just need to figure out if my intake valves got any "gas" on them

    Direct Injection and Carbon Buildup!
Direct injectors are prone to carbon build up and are affected by the hostile environment in the combustion chamber as well as ethanol, hydrocarbons and additives which forms part of today’s fuels.

Because there is no cleaning agent, such as gasoline, present to clean the valves from any debris the current drawback from direct injection systems in 4 cycle engines is the buildup of carbon and dirt behind the intake valves and ports . Engines start losing performance after 45000 miles and the only remedy on some models is costly because it requires removal of the cylinder head to remove the dirt buildup from the intake valves and ports. Newer models such as the Subaru BRZ now make use of both direct injection and manifold injection to curb some of these problems. Another work around is to route the engine breather through an oil catch can.

@OVTune has a lot of skin in the game and if he says “it’s working like I designed it,” that is good enough for me.

Been with OVT for since Spring of 2017 and have logged 70,000+ miles with no issues.

I trust what Mat builds and will continue to support and promote him and his product.
