Awesome, hopefully OVTune doesn't mind that I changed my system ID after returning my dongle and waiting for the VF key and tuning key.

04B04 2.0 31-33 base here, anyone notice a metal rattle sound coming from the engine at around 5k RPM WOT? or does anyone know what may be causing it? Otherwise the revised 2.0 is awesome. love the shifts, throttle and MPG

Can you damage the torque converter if you keep it unlocked for too long?

I am hoping that GearLock is relatively easy to disable with vF Tuner.

No, but a byproduct of leaving the converter unlocked under high load conditions for long periods of time (think towing up a mountain) is raised transmission oil temperature. Under extreme circumstances this can result in very high trans oil temp. The most immediate downfall to leaving the converter unlocked is a loss in fuel mileage.

These are some of the reasons Mat has spent so much time tuning the converter lock up phases. There is a fine line between too much and too little in order to preserve drivability, efficiency, longevity and performance.

I hope there will be final 2.0 tunes without gearlock and there is also a performance tune like we had with 1.05.

I honestly don't care whether it has/doesn't have gear lock. I just want to cure my truck of it's race to 6th gear.

Isn’t ECT performance? I too dislike gearlock, but at least ECT is back.

I don't think what I bought in 2018 is what OVTune is calling a flash kit since back then we purchased the Tactrix cable separately from the tune. And I'm not spending $200 on top of the $600 I already paid, especially when I could be laid off with everything that's going on.

Edit: make that $780. The Tactrix cable alone was $180

It is noted that up to three System IDs will be granted with the Flash Kits.

I swapped from our old laptop to the Surface.

If you have the tuning software, you have the flash kit. There was a small period of time where he had people source cables on their own due to supply issues.

Hey Shellshock, you said you owned a 2nd gen Tacoma. I forgot how well my 2011 did. How did your old Tacoma's MPG compare to your 2017?

That's what I thought at first man. But after I thought about it I might have been one of the ones that unknowingly purchased the $79 option.
I "think" this is what he's referring to as the "Flash Kit."

That’s what you have, you just sourced the cables separately. That would be the $79 upgrade. The people with the zero dollar upgrade also have a little USB key.
