Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

On the highway my 2005 was typically 17-19. My 2017 is usually 19-22.

 

Roger that! I guess when I bought it I had no knowledge of what was going on at the time. I thought this was the option after going dongleless.

 

I went from an '05 Sport to a '17 Sport with the same results.

 

How long did it take you guys to get your registry ID?

 

The same results of your 05 being 17-19 and 2017 being 19-22? Or both the 05 and 17 have the same MPG?

Which lends the age-old question, does tow mode have gear lock or not...? (I dont think this was ever answered...)

Is the stock tune currently in P5F the "latest" from Toyota?

I would think that it would gear lock in S mode and S mode + ECT.

I sent in my dongle, waiting for license, so I have been unable to test the 2.0s yet.

So based on these comments, it appears we will not have 'gear lock' and 'upper gear limited S mode' (aka factory s mode) in the same tune...

(Unless we can change it ourselves with the software or reflash, etc, or the behaviour changes on final 2.0 release).

I ASSUME gear lock would be nice for on the highway, but dont want to loose upper gear lockout when towing 3-4k, and dont want to manually shift for every traffic light...

Will it be this way in 2.0F? I remember mat stating in the past gear lock would be S mode no ect, and it would downshift like normal in S mode + ect for towing, “tow mode”
