does anyone have a comparison of 105.1 base 87 pf5 and 2.0 base 87 OLE.p5f? It never occurred to me to try a base tune, until 2.0 came out and as a base tune.
I am running the latter, but never ran the "base" versions of 105 or 105.1. I always only tried the gearlock/performance 87 versions. Did not like the surging idle and too aggressive tip in and ridiculous short shifting, especially into 4th. Tried 19800 and it was better, and the idle and tip in were better, but not the short shifting problem. Is 105.1 base 87 p5f worth trying over the 2.0 base OLE with the stutter start, smooth idle and really close to perfect shift points? Can't wait to get some of these in a tune pack so I can compare but wondering if there is a customer experience out there that has driven both? I know I can flash it and try it but wondered if someone already did that can say yah or nah it's better or worse. edit, for 04b04

As far as I know, There was only ever 1 real OLE (Octane Learning) tune made. Never in 2.0 only in 1.05. It was a good tune for my truck. However, the best tune for my truck is 1.05.1 87 base 04B04. The Latest Beta 2.0F for the O4B04 was not OLE as far I as know. Atleast I wasn’t willing to test wether or not it would have issues running different octanes. It also had excessive cranking issues on start up and the shifting (for my truck) wasn’t as good as the tune I’m happy with. The idle also acted strange, warm or cold. Been waiting for the new 2.0F Test but it hasn’t been released so I’m sticking with what works (for my truck since they ALL behave differently) *note, the 1.05.1 91 base is also good. If there is a Power difference I can’t feel it between 87 & 91. Might be on paper but not one I can feel. None of the Performance tunes work on my truck, it just drives like crap on P-Tunes. *note I use Premium (91 Oct here in Oregon regardless of tune Octane)

Would certainly seem to be an OLE tune ;)

There were 04B04 2.0 beta files with octane learning and the most recent 2.0f file has octane learning. There were two versions on 2.0f, so you could pick the one that was closest to the octane fuel that you typically use, otherwise it would take longer for your truck to learn the new octane. At least that is the way I understood the concept.

Feeling a lot better this morning, so will be getting to many tickets, reg, vF.

We are also going to try to clear up this process a bit more. I understand things look messy and confusing.

thanks @Burmapeak . I may go back and try 105.1 base 87 for fun. I really like the 2.0 I'm on (it is a beta that does have OL and gearlock in S mode). Just that little stutter start up problem, but it doesn't really bother me. I was just looking for some ones perspective that had run both and to find out if the base versions of 105 & 105.1 all had the short shifting.

Can you re-verify if the latest 2.0's are OLE? Glad your feeling better.

1.05.1 87 base (on my truck) does not have short shifting. Near perfect. Only tiny issue is when accelerating up a hill that is not very steep, but long and drawn out, once I crest over the top, it won't shift up for an extended period of time. Lets say I'm in 4th climbing the hill, I crest over the top, start descending and it'll stay in 4th instead of dropping into 5th. I can let off the throttle and wait for it but usually if it bothers me I flick it into S mode and make it shift than drop back into D.

For the auto guys, idk about the latest test maps but I wouldn't worry. Us MT folk have octane learning on our 2.0 maps, I doubt he's going to leave you AT guys out lol

you can just tap the throttle a bit harder, just a tap, and it will up shift. you do not have to change to S mode, then shift up, then put back in drive. just burp the throttle a bit, it will upshift. Ski

They can kiss my arse. I wouldn't have the tune if they'd released a quality product in the first place.

My go to is a tea made of grated ginger (fresh if possible), lemon, and honey. The ginger can really calm an upset stomach, plus it's good for your immune system.

Nope, I can do the normal Tap/Burp all day long and it'll finally shift when it wants to. The hill can plain out or go down hill and it'll sit in the gear for an excessive amount of time. I either deal with the excessive time or swipe it into S to shift. And yes, I know exactly what your reffering to by Tap/Burp.
