I use S mode sometimes and it doesnt feel much different from standard mode except that it seems to take a while to shift up after pushing the lever. Still sucks that it engages 4th when switching from D to S. I also didnt mind pushing the ECT button to engage the lock, so either way I think most people dont mind either way.

I say leave it for now in this new config and let it get 3 months of thorough user testing. Then we do a TW poll on its usage.

You’re updating a great product that you have created. If some people don’t like something about it they can choose to not flash it or try their hand making their own tune with vF Tuner. Attempting to suggest that you change something at this point is a non starter.

Give us 2.0F as you have made it and most of us will be happy with it snd the wait will be over. Tks, Mat. Appreciate the total effort.

Now back to waiting in the shadows until 04A61 2.0F is released.

About a month back i was driving around 75 in 5th gear. i kicked it over to s mode and it stayed in 5th i was amazed and have never ever seen this happen before. i thought it was a fluke so i played around and made it happen again. i then started playing around more tryin to figure it out and noticed if i got it up to 6th around the same speed in D and bumped it over it would drop to 4th, but if i was in 5th at around 75mph and kicked it over it stayed. i am geared 5.29 so not sure if that makes any difference.

That would be very useful. The old landcruisers would do. Let you start out in 2nd, great for wheeling. Now if you could figure out a center dif lock, lol..

The manual does say entering S mode will put you in either S4 or S5. It depends what the current conditions are.

Guess I used the wrong version.

Edit: yeah, I don't even have the ECU he posted here, I was using the one off the beta page.

I should pay more attention to this thread probably.

I'm not sure it's new. It really isn't like people have been encouraged to state what they would like to see BEFORE changes got made. Any counter opinion re: what is done and why is fairly quickly shouted down as well.

As the chorus is quick to point out, "Just live with what you are given unless you can do better". I've come to terms with that and the fact that the body of this thread, using search continues to be the only real way to have some kind of idea what is going on. Not the first post and not the website.

It is what it is....and that's just fine. Really. And perhaps VF Tuner will solve this and other "problems". Apparently, only time will tell.

And again, you sort of asked.....

I don't think it's that a bunch of people suddenly dislike it so much as people were responding to the way you phrased your question, which was specifically directed to people who have reasons to not like gearlock:

So we were responding to you with the reasons why some of us personally prefer not to have gearlock. I'm not upset about gearlock or anything, but it's just not for me and my personal driving style. Seems that the majority of people actually prefer it though.
