I have my Tactrix adapter and cable and i used that to perform the update i just did. so i presume things are working ok.

do i really have to drop the dough on the tuner packs to only change the alternator voltage? Or can i do it manually somehow?

If all you want to do is change the alternator voltage you should be able to do that without tune packs and just use the stock tune (I would assume anyway). If you decide you want more down the road you can get the tune packs.

Let me ask you a question or two for you to think about..... Have you ever been waiting for a left turn with oncoming traffic and decide that you should have enough time and try to accelerate quickly, only to have the truck fall on it's face for 1-2 seconds? That's the stock tune. It's downright dangerous. Ever feel like 2nd or 3rd should have a bit more balls and just doesn't? That's the stock tune.

If you have someone near you willing to let you go for a test drive I would highly recommend checking it out.

Also, if you haven't done the ADM yet you should consider it.... Less than $20 in parts and reversible if you desire.

Download this https://www.tacomaworld.com/attachments/tsb-58-cuw-files-mt-zip.2909162/ Open the folder and click the T-0033-18.cuw file. This is for 2016 and 2017 Tacos with ECU IDs of 04B10, 04B11, and 04B12. Applying the update will give you 04B13. It should automaticllly open techstream and flash the file for you just follow the on screen instructions. It will not flash the file if it does not apply to your ECU or if you are already 04B13

ETA you will need an app that will open .zip files to open the CUW file link I posted.

If you only want to run the stock tune with charging adjustments, you don’t need the tune pack

but you’d miss out on 2.0 which is awesome

Roger that - I HATE the way this thing drives - i usually refer to it as a dog just because it cannot pickup and go. Maybe i'll consider the tune packs if i can do some simple all inclusive tune - i assume this is 2.0? - but i have to get that 14.7v from my alternator lol - that's my main driver for doing all of this. I need to make sure i keep my batteries healthy

    appreciate the feedback!

Edit - on OVtunes website, i don't see MT's listed as supported?

You can have your cake and eat it too. 2.0 and voltage bump.

2.0 makes the truck drive like I expected it to when I bought it.

I am a die hard MT guy, I admit it. I don't feel superior to anyone, I just genuinely like shifting gears. ATs may be more efficient at this point, but to me the MT is more fun.

That being said, if you haven't experienced the stock tune on an MT and can compare it to 2.0, you will never understand how much it actually improves driveability. The power gains are a bonus *to me*.

I'll go ahead and purchase the vForest Tuning software now - then patiently await the tune packs for the MT's.

    You guys rock
