The way I understand it: THX version allows the truck to respond to less pedal movement once your up to speed. So the initial tip in should be the same, but as you pick up speed, you can let up on the pedal and just use the top portion of the pedal position to maintain speed instead of having to keep the pedal down. Non THX is every other tune (not sure if you’ve tried others). I’m not sure how THX compares to stock.

So I talked to them and they said that if they install nitro gears they will most likely make noise, which is a big red flag. The shop I called down here said they they do nitro as well and do not make noise, and mentioned that the other shop must not be doing something right, and are most likely not replacing everything they should be. Any ideas on this? Premier West recommended I use the other gears instead of nitro since they don't make noise.

Awesome! Mind telling me what they charged for the labor and hardware? I definitely want to re-gear but 3200 is alot to fork out. I think it will finally make the truck drive the way it's supposed to. At least for now with the latest tune, the truck will actually hold gears better instead of going up a gear while I am still constantly accelerating. It was like the truck intentionally lost it's power band by shifting up too early while trying to get up to 65. Not anymore thankfully! Could be because I didn't reset the values when I added my bumper and slightly bigger tires, but it's all good now.

Edit: It's actually a 25 mile trip by gps, so like 25mpg.

Martin mobile gears charged me $1800 last year for 4.88 Nitro. Obviously, prices could have changed since then. No noise whatsoever, and they were finished in less than two hours.

Thanks gents! I messaged them for a quote and to see if they will come down to Chula Vista. I can stomach 1800 vs 3200 if their work is top notch. Hopefully if I do the install then switch to the 5.29 tune it will still be as awesome as it is now but with better powerband.

Did you guys do the EGCS needle bearing replacement as well?

Yes. I got the part myself and Martin replaced it. BTW, I had to drive to Corona to get it regeared.

They do good work. They are used by Rebel Off Road for regearing.

Wanted to let you guys know that I won't be able to post much here over the next few weeks. Working on several things in the back ground, and several upcoming updates.

Sounds like BS on the gears. For you’re first 3 fluid changes run 85w-140 and then 85w-110 or 90 (depending on yer sitiuation). Should be fine. The howl is inevitable for some, but fluid weight makes a huge difference in harmonics

Pricewise gears (With Master Kit)+installed should be around $2400-$2800

...and now back to your scheduled entertainment

Question, anybody using the latest 2.0, b04 33, 4.88 prem thx notice that it downshifts on the smallest hills and if the hill is long enough it will go to 4th? On the prior 2.0 release the tune would rarely downshift going up hills. I noticed last night that if I didn't use the cruise it wouldn't downshift and it would maintain the desired speed, if I use the cruise it would downshift. I traveled the same 15 mile route to make it a fair comparison. Now for the guestion, does the cruise act independently from the accelerator? If it wasn't for the startup issue I'd still be on the prior 2.0 release, it was perfect or close to it. I miss the gear lock and tow options.

How many miles do you have. Your description was more pronounced for me with low miles. Now in CC it only downshifts to 4th on steep hills.

    Hey @OVTune

I have 720 miles now currently on 04A61 2.0 87 stock thx. It is literally everything that I have ever expected the truck to run like and more. I just run it with ECT activated the entire time, just how i prefer it. But anyway, thanks for all the hard work, and thanks for helping me fall in love with my truck again!
