Not the question... are you the kind of guy that can sit in a church pew and be comfortable? A seat shaped like an L aint too comfy. but if you don't notice that... maybe that's why you don't notice the taco's funky throttle...? Like.. ECT dramatically changes the throttle response and shift points...

I’ve got 1356 miles on the 04B04 performance THX 33’s. Downshifts around 70mph haven’t gone away although I’ve become pretty good playing with the pedal and anticipating the inclines. Going to try the non thx and see if there’s a difference. My ECT is non exiting as there is no rev change on mine. The gearlock option will be perfect as the truck performs great other than the 5 to 4

This sounds like an issue. Any acknowledgement from the ovTune team?

I was being rather facetious. I don't sit on L shaped seats in general, but I do find the seats in the Tacoma to be rather uncomfortable. I have literally revved the engine and watched shift points/rpms with ECT on and off, with a trailer and without etc., and hardly noticed a difference. I am at high altitude and on 1.05 w/out GL at the moment if that makes a difference, but I don't remember it doing anything on stock either

I still haven't seen any responses from Mat regarding ECT, so I don't think anyone knows what it specifically does in the current non-gearlock release. All I've seen are guesses and assumptions by other users -- some of which may be correct -- but, I'd still really love to hear it directly from Mat at some point.

Well, we know what it doesn’t do: switch maps. Based on the observations of the majority, ECT does something. So if it’s not switching maps, then it’s just moving shift points. I don’t know how some trucks or their operators are not experiencing a difference when ECT is engaged. It’s pronounced on my truck.

Seems like the stock ECT on my truck (holds gears a bit longer).

Cold start fix. Remote start. Problem solved.

Cold start stinks, but the old 2.0 is a much better tune for me. Start it from inside so I don’t have to cringe when I hear it.

Im running the Reg/thx/33 tune on stock gears and am on a road trip in the BC mountains. Lots of hills here in the Canadian Rockies.

    I have 285/75/17 KO2’s on stock gears.

The downshifts in hills are pretty bad. Sometimes it holds 4th way too long and other times it will downshift to 3rd! I’m about 500 miles in and have another 1000 to go on this trip.

I’d love to have gear lock right now. Otherwise I’m going to have to do gears ASAP. 4.88’s are likely in my near future.

I believe with the stock tune In ECT the trans would rarely lock the TC. Now It locks it pretty frequently idk if ECT is actually doing anything. Idk. Be nice to get some input.

Thx tune is based on empirical data of a few butt dyno'ers...
    Stick to normal.
I did a few runs over cascade's and it is fine.
Even stock is fine, pulling 80+ in 5th for 35 miles climb

I will definitely try the non THX before doing gears.

Youre in bc higher elevation along with a 34 inch tire lol. Id expect that 3rd gear to happen..and I bet you got more than just a set of bfg tires on that truck as well.

Max elevation for passes is around 4300 feet on pavement. Nothing like Colorado.

I have same size tires running premium/thx/35 in Kentucky and also experienced 3 gear regularly on pretty mild inclines. This was with cruise control on. Not sure if that makes a difference. Kinda shocked me.

I might give it a go with non-thx once the full 2.0 tunes are released.

Make sure you're engaging "regular" cruise control, not Adaptive. Long press on the CC On button.

    None, yet
Is there a thread somewhere that details exactly what I would need to get this tune into my truck? I find their website a bit confusing. Also, what does the high octane tune do for MPG? Thanks.
