My previous question stands. What specifically changes with the tune with regards to tire size? Sorry, asked a couple times (as have others). Thanks. Or if any of the gurus can point to a post that I missed, much appreciated. Searched, but you know how that goes - search terms not right, no hit.

I know nothing about OVtune other than I hate how ny truck is tuned from factory. Will using OVTune void my warranty? My truck is only 7 month old and has alot of warranty left

Also is there anyone in Portland, OR area that could tune it for me?

I'm fairly certain that if you blow your motor or trans up and take it to Toyota to get it fixed under warranty that if they know it's tuned then they would blame it on the tune. The key here is IF they know. The tune can't be detected by any of the dealership's equipment that I know of so unless you go telling them that you got a tune on it then you should be fine. Numerous people here including myself have taken our trucks to the dealership for service and TSB updates where they hook the truck up to their computers and no one in the 3 years that the tune has been available has been called out for having an unauthorized tune. I wouldn't sweat it at all but if you are the kinda guy that isn't comfortable knowing that your warranty is on the line for that 1 in a million chance they somehow could figure it out and void your warranty then walk away.

funny. Cuz I've been running 2.0 base thx premium file and imo my mpg hasn't really changed but the driving is very well improved. Sounds like just a bad day on the tune. Don't see how you jumped up 5mpg. But also 19mpg on the stupid tank average crap with 3/4 tank of fuel doesn't justify it. You telling me you were fueling up every 250 miles? Give or take

I’ve been tuned since my truck was about 6 months old. That puts me at coming up on 3 years of being tuned

You can always flash back to the stock tune if needed for some reason.

there might be someone closer but @tonered is in Seattle. He’s the west coast guru :hattip:

I ran both tunes, thx and non thx for
The 500 miles each. I waited to flash the tunes because I knew I had a busy month and would be putting miles on the taco (usually drive around 100 miles a month). Thx was awesome, fuel did drop but I think it was me having fun with the pedal. Issue with thx is when I hit the trails. The Pedal felt heavy and dead at times. There would be times I would be on an incline and it felt like the pedal went dead. I would give it gas and the truck would get to much power, resulting loss traction (not what I want on the trail).

switch to non thx and the was to me like a stock truck, but the issue was the mpg. I had two Costco fill ups under non thx. Gas average was high 12s to low 14s

Okay, trying to catch up, but the sheer amount of information is insane, so I'm hoping someone that's been around for a bit can steer me in the right direction. I've got a 2019 TRD Pro MT that I tuned when I bought it a year ago. I believe 1.05 was out then and that's what I put on it. There's a ton of talk about 2.0, and it looks like it should be available in my software, but the software isn't very intuitive and I have no idea what to do with it. I click update, it says it updated, but I have no idea what it updates or if an update was even necessary. Nothing changes. Looking through the manuals, everything appears to be dated with version number, etc. so I don't know if any of it works anymore. It's kinda like the Internet in general. There is such a history and wealth of information that I have no idea what's real or relevant anymore. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you have the older version, the update function isnt working properly. You need to uninstall FM and install this version

    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/flash-manager-1-3-0-released-with-new-logger

Then hit update. After that, you should see the 2.0 MT tunes.

Okay, so I seem to have all that working. Got it all hooked up and ready to flash and when I opened the P5 utility, all of the buttons were greyed out. See the attached photo. No matter what I did, all of the buttons remained greyed out. Powered off and on. Restarted the system. Re-registered the software. Reinstalled EVERYTHING. Nothing would change it. I made sure everything was connected correctly by opening the data logging utility and it found the vehicle and everything no problem through the OBD2 connection. Any ideas?

Check the system ID it shows and the one you sent for a reg key. Some windows updates have been causing it to change randomly.

If the System ID is the name of the reg file, then yes. It's completely different. Guess I have to email and wait for another key then?

Well, at least I'm not alone. Just hoping I don't have to wait a month like I did last time I had to re-register...

I sent my dongle for trade awhile ago in but I haven’t received anything back. Will ovt send out something different or dongle not needed anymore?

You're converting to dongle-less. You need to also get your sysID and send that to OVT zendesk. Follow the dongle-less install instructions.

Did you trade in your dongle without at least finding out what you were getting in return? Just...sent it off on a whim? Didn't look up what the process was and what you were getting out of it?
