Been camping (still am) this weekend and 04B04 2.0 91 octane 4.88 non THX has been awesome. With my 4200lb trailer (full) I got 14mpgs towing to location and yesterday. Without it doing some sight seeing I averaged 22mpg. Very impressed with the tune as it seems to have settled nicely and behaves very consistent now at 500+miles on the tune. Only thing left is the same tune in the tune pack to adjust the voltage. Truck is 5650lbs 255/75/17 tires.

    Nice @OVTune!

Nice numbers, crazy how much of a variant 04b04 is with these trucks.

Agreed. Mine is a 2016 and I have had next to zero issues besides a HP fuel pump under warranty. At 52k miles now

    @Saiji Satoh
This link by DES2009 seems to suggest the accessory might use .pcm files. I don't know.
Perhaps OVTUNED sent you the wrong files (.bin format) assuming you had a Pro HH
Have you tried to upload a pcm file?

Found this archived link via google describing the different (accessory at bottom)
    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/flash-kit-vs-handheld
seems to imply using the same files as flashmanager (which are not .bin files that you have)

    Thanks for the infos.
My HH is not a Pro. The files they send to are .bin. I am a flash kit user, never received .pcm file.

For a common sense, if my Handheld - Flash Kit Accessory can’t even save the stock tune from the truck. How can it accept tunes from computer?

In my opinion, this HH need a firmware update.

Here is another old post, but I don't know if it helps. I don't know where the "download page" that Mat mentioned is located.
This post mentions a firmware update, but I don't know if it applies to you.

I remembered that firmware he mentioned. And i did get that firmware updated.

Because the first time when connected the HH to the truck, it’s wasn’t recognized or some kind of error message. And that firmware was fixed the issue. But no one can tell if the HH is working until you got the tunes.

Help. Was there ever a fix for the 5.29 and AT 85mph speed governor? So weird that I can accelerate to 95 mph in 4th, but 5th and 6th won’t go above 85 mph. I don’t drive that fast very often, but going to Maine sucked with a 75mph speed limit.

I’m currently on the newest 2.0, but experienced the same on other betas.

Nice, makes me excited for the 4.88 install tomorrow. Are you running the premium 4.88 tune for stock tire or 33"?

I still experience the same speed limiter on the latest 5.29 tune. I hadn't tested it on any other tune. it's for sure there. 2019 04b31 premium 5.29 33" non thx.

on the other hand this tune has been amazing. I've logged a lot of towing miles towing heavy loads. Once i have gearlock back i think it will be perfect. It's been a real pleasure.

How much do you think that pod and those bikes weigh in total?

a rough estimate would be 4k on the pod and gear, and about 900-1k lbs of bikes and generator and gear in the bed.

Yeah, you would think that part of a tuners "art" (science?) would be determining exactly what is different between trucks with the same tune. If I recall, the 04b04 "variant' was the "standard" for quite some time; without issues specifically related to that tune. Strange, inconsistent behavior over the life of these vendor tunes. Makes me want to spend $ for forced induction that requires the tune.

    Here they come.......;)

So I shipped my dongle a week ago. Arrived 07/21 at their PO Box. I have not heard anything since. Am I supposed to receive something physical to replace that dongle ? I am confused how this works and I just keep getting canned responses when I email OVTune.

to apply the tune, you need the OVtune or tactrix cable and then the tacoma 3.5 tune from ovtune?
