Are you trying to say that putting a turbo on a motor designed for a turbo is somehow going to hurt the motor over time because of heat?

Nope, it did move the limiter up though. He sent me another file that I’ll be flashing this evening and hopefully trying out tomorrow morning.

Smaller engine has smaller parts (crankshaft, bearing, pistons, connecting rods, etc) all being stressed more to get the same power as big engine, that has bigger parts.
Physics...there is always a trade off.

    Bullshit.

2016 Crew cab short bed 4x4 running latest 2.0 prem wit 93 base tune. K&N cold air intake and mbrp pre axle pipe. (Flow through, glass pack style exhaust) 60k miles

It goes good. Sounds better than i ever thought i could make it sound. Especially at WOT. Which i have a habit of doing a lot. Sorry, not sorry. 20 mpg highway at 70 mph, 22 mpg at 60 mph.

With the flow through exhaust i get a lovely little deceleration barble (not pop, it never pops) that i apsolutely love and wish it did it all the time. Can't wait to make that happen with vftunner.

It would be cool to have a hybrid gearlock. Gearlock as normal from 0 to 95% of the pedal. Downshift only from 96 to 100%. Best of both worlds?

Cheese with rice i cant wait for perf tune and tune pack for vftuner.

No degradation of tune over 5000 ish miles. Flooring seems to help. Sorry tires.

Keep up the brilliant work. Love my truck but only with ovtune.

You may be right when you’re talking about slapping some turbos on a stock 3.5L Tacoma motor. If you’re talking about OEMs though you’re not even close. The parts are spec’d for the application.

Ford Raptor engine is a beautifully designed monster.
Fords calibration (tune) just so damn cool from an engineering perspective. They take EVERYTHING into consideration. If I remember right it even calculates flame propogation changes depending on the expansion rate of the alloy of the aluminum block. That's freaking awesome.

I've really never seen a "JDM" manufacture come close to the engineering level as fords calibrations.
Toyota comes close in complexity, but falls far, far short in actual management of the engine (in my opinion).

But...I've read quite a bit about other parts of the drivetrain exploding, and in short time.

Never forget the 1970's era General Motors "Diesels" they put in trucks. Not really "spec'd for the application" parts. The one my dad had spilled it guts into a million pieces while towing our boat. I believe many others suffered a similar fate. :boom:
His was a Silverado... "converted" gasoline engine after the oil shortage and diesel became all the rage.

I think every manufacturer has their + and -, Ford seems to try and innovate which goes as far as their calibrations, unlike Toyota. Too bad they really dropped the ball with the ranger, with a few cosmetic mods, it can look badass but the interior is outdated.

We really need a manufacturer to make a midsize v8 truck, is that too much to ask?

My money is on Ram Dakota, since they like putting their hellcat or 5.7 engine on everything.

True. Ford will invest NASA rocket science into their tune and then make the entire interior out of recycled left overs.

My neighbor has the new ranger. It looks weird.

I’m saying that no matter what, heat slowly degrades everything. It could be an engine...it could be an ice cream cone. There are ways (like liquid cooling, etc...) to slow the degradation, but in the end heat wears everything

That’s a super broad assessment, I could also make a similar statement, all matter decays due to elements its surrounded by.
