So, how does someone go about selling their tune? Looks almost certain that I'm jumping ship... can I sell my entire kit and make some money back, or am I stuck just selling the hardware parts and taking a loss on the software?

Edit: Is the OBD2 thingy and cord usable on different trucks for anything, or is there a reason it only works for Toyota?

Oh bother. First Windows Defender, now Google's "Safe Browsing" is flagging the site. Poor thing.

Might as well read Attackers on ovtuned.com might attempt to install software that vastly improves your trucks performance and drivability. Watch out!

Oh no, RAM win the battle? I may go 2nd gen crew cab Ecoboost in the future (multiple car seats in the back of the Tacoma - just don't work as it turns out). But for now, I stay put ($$,$$$).

I'd imagine that ODB to USB cable would work on other makes, though Dodge might be trickier with how their ECU stuff works, at least if it's similar to the Charger my buddy has.

And since the software is just that, a software license I'd imagine there's not much to recoup since the new owner would have a new system ID and all. I think it's licensed per one user and one truck right? If it was licensed per truck then I'd think the whole thing would be transferable. Would have to read the agreements paperwork that we all never read :)

Oh hold up on that post button.

CAN I SHARE MY FLASH MANAGER SOFTWARE?
Flash Manager software is registered to you, by name. It cannot be shared.

CAN IT BE USED ON MULTIPLE VEHICLES?
The kit can be used on multiple vehicles, however each vehicle must be individually licensed to use the software. Contact us for details.

So reading that, I'd say you could sell the hardware but not really the software license.

Yeah, Ram has pretty much won. I've finally accepted that this truck will simply never be what I need, no matter how much money I dump into it. And the mpg on the Tundra is simply unacceptable, no way I could afford to feed that pig. I *might* come back to Toyota someday if the new Tundra knocks it out of the park. Not gonna lie, pretty scared to leave the "bulletproof" reputation of Toyota, I've never had ANY major maintenance on either of the Tacomas I've had. But, I need what I need and this truck just doesn't have it. Ugh, yeah I figured as much, just wanted to double check. I get it, but I don't have to be happy about how this industry works.

Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I am just asking because I don't have time to pay attention to this thread, did the whole final 2.0 release on sept 11-12 pan out?

Okay I've been running the beta hiccup tune for a while now, again, after flashing back from 2.0Final (04b04, 4.88, regular, stock). I am going to run a few tanks of 91+ octane and try the 2.0 Final (04b04, 4.88, premium, stock). Wondering if the THX provides better towing power than non-THX. Any users with input ? @SpeySquatch ?

I use the non-thx file and it goes great for me. Mpgs have been great for towing as well.

took my first long road trip with 2.0 and the thing seemed to stay in 4th a lot on cruise control and not go into 5th or 6th much or even at all... and the hills weren’t big enough to constantly require 4th gear

is this normal for others? i feel like that’s burning up the already bad mpg my heavy truck gets...

i’d randomly put it in manual mode for a second so it would display the gear while on cruise control

that's not how the "manual" mode works.

4th gear is the default gear when you switch from D to S, and this may not be the actual gear in use, just the highest gear it will go to, it will still downshift and upshift if you are driving around town without touching the shift lever and will always display 4 IIRC.

did you notice any rpm change when you swapped from D to S for your second as described above?

sometimes but usually not, on the hills that weren’t big it seemed to be in 4th and holding an rpm of 4000

Mine sticks in 4th darn near any time I'm going 70 or higher or if there's any slight hills it's 4th all day long in cruise, but if NOT in cruise I can hold 5th just fine up those same hills at the same speeds. Easily reproducible on the turnpike. It's specific to cruise and it's done that since day 1 nearly 5 years ago. Not sure any amount of tuning will fix that as it's probably not in the ECU code? I know CC has a throttle position of "0" instead since the foot pedal isn't involved and that may have something to do with it.

Now if I see a hill coming I just shut off cruse and do it manually with my foot and can usually hold 5th instead of 4th at 3,500 RPMs etc. One of my biggest complaints about this truck, I can't set it at 75/80 going down I70 without it being in 4th for hours. Tundra could, the Camaro can hold 80 or even 100 in overdrive (lol) even our lil Subaru Crosstrek with a 2.0 flat four and large cargo bag on top can sit under 3K going 80 but not the Tacoma.

I'm on the current 2.0 final. 04B04 Prem Stock 33" non THX (the one without the now-very-missed Gearlock ability).

Can't say I've noticed any changes in Cruise from stock to tuned, it may go in to 4th a little less now but it's not gone. I kinda feel like it did better on the 19800 build that I first flashed when I got OVTune earlier this year right before VF launched. That one could hold 5th longer I feel than the current ones but that could be up to so many different variables.

Truck is otherwise stock, no added weight, tires are 265/70/17 but went from C load to P rated lighter tires, not much different from stock other than they are AT tread. No lift, etc. Just the aerodynamics of a brick. I'd consider a 4.88 re-gear but it's $,$$$ that I don't have or want to dump more in at this point, so I just deal with it. Might go full size in the future if we have a 2nd kid sooner rather than later just due to interior space but I won't miss this powertrain, haha. That could be a long ways off though.

Mine (all stock) would downshift to 4th on any steep hill and 5th on slight inclines from factory and with the TSB. After 1.05 it would hardly go to 4th unless there was a severe headwind. Now with the catless downpipe and the 2.0 tune, I very rarely see a downshift to 4th on any of the hills during my daily commute.
