Yep. I lost a few beta tunes I wanted to revert back to that I had saved to my laptop. Wasn’t too thrilled about it.

This just seems to be the way the accelerator is programmed. I'm trying to wait for the final GL/perf/etc. tune before I dig into vF to fix it; but, it sure seems to act just like this chart looks (from an MT).

If the AT tune is anything like this (and it feels like it is)... depending on rpm, only ~3% more accelerator can give you over double the torque! Drives me crazy.

Hello to all, I have been following this thread for a while and have decided I would like to tune my Tacoma (2019 DCLB TRDOR)...the idea of doing this as the thread has gone on and on and on has become super confusing,...visited the OV website to check out the available product(s) and was like WOW!....ok so there is a 3.5 tune pack/box, a package with a plug in/data transfer cable?.....VF Forrest something or other and a 1250.00 pro tune kit to choose from. Ok then, so the magic question ,,,what do I need to purchase to tune my truck in the most simplified way possible ...all I am interested in is like the 87 octane standard ovtune.....I am sure I would enjoy the tune however I am very reluctant as so many folks are having what appears to be an awful time with electronics communications, keys to activate this or that etc.....sorry for so long of a post....am I overwhelmed or overreacting to what I have been reading here?..thank you for any help you can provide.

    Alrighty....

You need 1) VFTuner & an OBDII cable:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vforest-tuner-software-flash-cable

You need 2) tunes... (Tacoma that is). You can get something from someone on here that has baked their own, or this from OVTune:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/tacoma-3-5l-vf-tune-pack

Variations on this are you can get your own tactrix cable from them if you want (and order OVTune's kit without the cable), or wait for OVTune to have their wifi OBDII back in stock.
    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-wi-flash-cable

Personally, I'd pony up the extra $390 just to get the direct source files from OVTune. This way, any future updates he makes to those you're likely to get as well. Having said that, others on here are willing to share their edited tunes which started from OVTune's work as the base. It's your call on if you're comfortable using someone else's tune.

<edit> PS, you'll need a windows laptop, or a Mac running Bootcamp or Parallels.

Anyone with a handheld OFT or Accessory got vftuner!? Just curious to know if we are even able to get vftuner as well with the OFT handheld or if we have a different process. Are most of you just flash kits with vftuner?

The 2.0 base just isn't doing it for me any more. I like having ECT back, and it shifts pretty smoothly, but my mileage and power have gone down noticeably since flashing from 2.0 beta 19800. When it comes to power, it just seems to have less get-up-and-go on 2.0 base, but I don't have any actual data to back it up other than my butt dyno.

When it comes to mileage, on 2.0 beta 19800 I would regularly get 18 - 22 mpg per tank. On the latest 2.0 base, I regularly get 16 - 19 mpg. I have driven more than 10,000 miles on both, and 19800 seems to be the better fit for me.

Can't wait to see what 2.0 performance/gearlock can do! I wouldn't mind the lower mpg if I was getting more power out of it.

Also keep in mind, it’s that time of year where we switch to winter blend fuel and everyone loses mpg as a result

Good heads up, and I agree that winter blend will start showing up and decreasing my mileage soon, but this has been my experience for the past few months. I feel pretty confident that winter blend wasn't around in July and August.

Also, these trucks are maddeningly inconsistent, so I'm not complaining, just sharing my experience with the different tunes. Overall, I'm stoked that OVTune is around to improve my driving experience compared to stock no matter which tune I load.
