    Flash keys sent out.

register your key to PCMFlash and you're all set to read your ECU and send it over to us for a tune file.

Sounds like shit has been resolved. No point in anymore back and forth. Let’s get this thread back on topic and move forward gentleman.

@blkbelt42 let us know how you like the tune once you get situated.

Thanks Mat, and if you have a pic of the beasts you're working on over there, I for one would love to see it!

Update at 460 miles (Transmission learning to be stupid):

Transmission shifting more erratic.. including a return to TWO downshifts (to 4th) to get over the the larger humps on the bridge I mentioned in the first post above. Also this morning I only got 20.3mpg for the exact same morning drive that I mentioned in the second post above where I had got 26.4mpg before. I'm hoping not to see a re-occurrence of the other transmission issue I mentioned in the third post above.

These maps were made with what the truck will think is a new ECU. Will they change, or will the behavior of the truck change, when the ECU "learns" your driving habits after 2-3k miles?

I don't quite understand what you are asking but I will try to answer anyway. The tune is a completely new set of maps for the ECU. The changes people see from the time of flashing through a few hundred miles are to the "learned values" in the ECU. They are independent of the base maps. The maps Matt has created do not change. The learned values can be reset by software and adjust as environmental conditions or your driving habits change.

But if the learning causes the truck to perform worse, degrades the driving experience, and causes a significant loss of mpg's.... the question becomes WHY?
Why must the truck learn to be stupid?
Who benefits? Certainly not the owner/driver. Does Toyota benefit from this nonsense?

Certainly weird. Do the AT guys need a tranny tune as well - is there one available as well as the ECU tune?

Anyone experiencing shifting weirdness on Shift A, I would recommend trying out Shift C. It's smoother and I haven't had that issue mentioned above where it "Feels like its not in gear" with Shift C though I felt it occasionally with Shift A. You will see an immediate MPG hit with Shift C but after a few days running it my morning commute was w/in 1 mpg of 1.01b. I still only have under 200 miles on it so of course learning is still happening but so far so good.

@blkbelt42 there is no TCU (transmission) file for our trucks at this time. the shift and torque maps that control how and when the tranny shifts in the A/Ts is apparently embedded into the ECU (P5-Can-bus) file. not sure when/if there will be anything valuable we would flash to the "gear box" file.

tune still runs great though, and there may be nothing ultimately that can completely undo the transmission weirdness but I do enjoy the updated shift smoothness and more aggressive middle gears of Shift C thus far.

thx on both dude. That's my plan as well to start off, 1.02c-C.

I noticed it was listed in the drop down menu at about 4am :D when I activated pcmflash and did the initial read.

Cool. hopefully by the weekend once Mat wraps w/ his pro-tunes he'll be able to get some files back to folks. but do know that process can take a few days depending on backlog to get files out. this is because he takes the time to review your file, confirm version, truck details, and ensure you get the proper files tuned for your truck to minimize potential for failures. ...another one of those things he "could" automate but would increase risk this early in the dev process and he wants to look at each trucks ECU to confirm what he's sending it correct and that does take time across all the pending files he has. you're close though!

lmao...it's all good ;) Along with the rest of things going on, I have two discs I jacked up sparring, now
that they're healed getting back to regular training will help relieve the tension. :D

When writing the 1.02c file to the ECU, is it just the one file for the eng. or do you have to choose the trans file also..? If so do you write one at a time..?
Going to try to load the tune on my lunch break but want to get it right...

It depends on your ECU version, and also on if you've previously loaded any tune. I'l try to find the info Mat had posted and emailed me.

Sounds like if he sends you 2, based on the stock read you sent him, that you need to use both. No?

Only had to load one file,
    1.02c A.
    Went very smoothly.
Quick test drive says "WOW" big difference..
Now it could be I'm just excited but it's powerband is linear and pulls from low end to redline really nicely and seems to be in the right gear all the time.
Turned off LSD and TRAC then powered up ECT just to see how it was and it really wakes up this truck...!!
Going around corner and punching the gas made the tires squeel like I've never heard in the year and a half I've owned it...
OK time to settle down and drive it normal for a while and get better review of all the changes this tune made but for now really happy...
Again thanks to all who answered questions helping me with problems I had....
