Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I thought master keys never change but system can. Fuck if I kno. Sorry if it’s bad info.
I’m having trouble with vf tune not recognizing my 3.5 pack vftuner. But I can run and hopefully flash other tunes tomorrow. I’m excited @PapaRee here we go.

 

Thats the problem system ID changed

 

Correct. Master key doesn’t change. System ID is tied to computer

Can't seem to find any info on this... but what if im selling my truck. Can how can remove my license off my truck and sell the flash kit ?

 

you'd just set it back to the stock tune. your computer is where the license is attached.

 

You can sell the hardware. Licenses are nontransferrable

 

So I have the old ovtune. I can buy the VFTuner for $79 right. Does this include the tune pack and has anyone customize a tune that similar to ect on?

 

Yes. The upgrade includes tune pack

new to this and found these posts. Was hoping to get some help here before I do anything stupid.

local guy is offering to flash OVT for a price. I am considering it. Problem is I will need to use tech stream in the future in order to recalibrate the passenger seat occupancy sensors for the airbags (I plan to take the passenger seat in and out a relatively high number of times to set up a sleeping platform there, don’t worry about it).

these posts kind of concern me about that interaction. Will I be able to go into the truck using TS to recalibrate the SOS with OVT installed?

2020 auto v6 if it matters.

 

Yes you can use TS when you truck is tuned. No issues. TS wont know the difference.

The people who have had issues with techstream are using knockoff adapters ODB2. Use a tactrix adapter.

 

I was referring to flashing your ECU calibration from one Toyota file to another using techstream. This won’t affect you.

How does one’s system ID get changed?

 

There’s a windows update that does but no one knows which one. If it happens, message zendesk for a new reg key

 

I just got the recalled fuel pump replaced and my truck is driving different. Wanted to reflash.
Turned off real time protection and ran the program as admin and everything is blurred out in p5flash.
I sent an email with the system ID I see in p5flash to zendesk yesterday. Hopefully it’s a simple fix.

 

Is there anything on your work order that suggests they re-flashed your ECU? It may be only that they disconnected the battery for long enough to reset learned values back to default. I’m getting mine replaced next and wonder if I should bring my flashing laptop to re-tune after the pump is replaced.

 

If you want to try a different flash manager, download Vftuner on the Vftuner.com home page (free download), then look in the download folder for vf flash. Open it and use it. It utilizes you OVtune registration.

 

With this, can you install the vf tuner tunes even if you didnt buy vftuner, only a flash kit?
