I am still a dinasaur and using OV Tune. Have yet to upgrade to VF tuner. Have that email out to Mat regarding how to go about with the upgrade process.

    2.0 stk thx
Had the fuel pump replaced at dealer. Truck seemed to drive fine after. Probably me but seemed like reverting back to stk. I connected and clicked “read”. It said wrong ecu.??
It did allow me to reflash 2.0
Anyone know why it showed wrong ecu when clicking “read”?

If 2.0 is flashed to the ECU, you wont be able to read and it’ll throw an error.

Thanks. Wouldn’t that also mean if a dealer did the same thing, they would recognize that a tune had been loaded?

No because techstream cant read and flash tunes. It can only identify the ECU ID and flash TSBs which update the ECU to a new revision

Hypertech speedo calibrator. Do I still need to pick tire size when OVtuning or use stock tire size tune? Supposedly the the Hypertech module feeds the correct speed to the ECU and the shift points adjust accordingly. Am I overthinking this?

    vf doesnt change speedometer.
    The module does.
He is asking if you can run both. Specifically, if the tire size setting must be changed if the module potentially adjusts shifting already.

Thank you, better than how I explained it. It's not for me but for someone who's picky. But I'm curious for the answer too.

I don't think the "module" adjusts shift points. All it's doing is intercepting the signal and outputting the correct signal. If you had both, you should run the correct ovt tire size tune and the "module"

Correct. It just modifies the signal going to the instrument cluster to account for larger ties. If you want to change shift points, you need to tune

Thanks for the help. Just to be sure I'm understanding, if I buy vForest, it comes with the credits to do an ECU unlock. Then I can buy a tunning pack on top and pick a tune to use. If I want to try different tunes from that tuning pack do I need to pay each time? Or can I switch as much as I want?

You can flash as many times as you want

Speaking of shift points and tire calibrations. Anyone care to chime in on this? So 100% All the tire calibrations are no more than a cosmetic device for the cluster? Ive thought about getting one for longest time, especially since RC is half the price and works fine for 17 tacomas. Anyone else in here running them and ovtune?

They don't do anything for shift points.

They’re no longer downloadable from flash manager. Everything is being ported to vftuner now.

I am a flash kit owner and just bought the $79 vForest Tuner. What do I do next beside wait for a key?
