    it makes me wonder if it makes a difference adding the changes or not. I'm stock right now but plan on a lot of changes over the next couple of months.

    I can tell you in my experience, trying every tire size and every different gear size, I could not tell much if any difference.

    Now if you change airload maps, throttle maps, shifting maps, etc, there are changes felt.

    That's understandable. I'll mess with it more here shortly and see what I can find out. I'm on the 04c20 map and most of the work from others is done on the older maps. I'm curious to see what they have changed but I know my taco is a whole other beast from the earlier years.

    - Gearlocking - Enable by S mode, no longer enable by ECT


    Does this mean you can lock the rear diff in four high just by shifting into S mode on the automatic shifter?

    Some people prefer to have the tire size higher than what they actually have, idk if thats because of weight or what. I personally haven't noticed a difference either.

    No ......... gear lock is for the AT.

    The Diffs are controlled by a different ECU.

    Tire size and gears are factored into the algorithm used in the ECU. Everything that references that is somewhat of a mystery, but it does do something. The other tables will be the same as its basically just a modification to the calculation done.

    There is a tune from way back--May 2020 that had this feature. The problem was that this tune also had a "stumble start"---The starter would run a mili-second after the engine starts. If you want to try it, here it is.

    you are saying changing the gear ratio and tire size in VFtuner between tunes does nothing to the driving experience?

    Stumble start like rolls the starter against the fly wheel or just starts to start and stumble then starts hole new start the completes it is if you didn't apply the button enough

    It starts fine. I ran it a while with no problems. It just sounds like the starter runs a mili-second long.

    Ok that doesn't sound bad .
    And so when I run this flash it will allow me.to lock my rear diff in four high .
    Is it possible to run it while not in 4 wheel drive ?
    Really I would to block vsc abs and lock in four high . If I could lock any time that would be sweet but for me the first 3 are a must . Im at the point to where I might just trade in or sell my truck. I use to have a 1990 runner on 37 and a manual manual smog legal that I converted . I want full control of my truck . I feel like I'm bieng banbysitted

    That tune is for gearlocking in S mode. Not differential lock.

    Editing gearing and tire size in vF properly adjusts your shift points, otherwise you'll be shifting earlier than you'd like and your top speed will be limited to much lower than it should be (i.e. like 88mph or something like that for people with 5.29's)

    To say there's no benefit for the end user is pretty ignorant.
