I was thinking you could mount the dish in the bed of your truck if you sell tuning services. Connect tuning laptop to wifi connected to starlink.

The bulk of the website was down for the past couple days with only the vF DL link. Some stuff is back and updated now, except for Version 1.3.0 not being posted yet.

I have had Version 1.2.8.1 for about a week? It didn't ask me for anything, but I did get a couple virus warnings that were easy to take care of.

There was an FAQ on that. Something about it being localized for now. For folks with RVs though, it could be epic.

A smaller version of the current mobile satellite internet antennas would be a cool future.

91 here is about 20 or 30¢ a gallon more, so definitely not a deal breaker

Yes. $0.30/gal is our cost difference and almost completely made up by the MPG bump. Prior to OVT 2.0, I either got the same (1.05) or worse MPGs (Stock tunes) with 92.

I thought it was just an issue of getting more sats in the sky?

There’s a mobile version coming at some point once they get enough density. Definitely gonna hop on that.

Yep. They need more density to ensure everyone can get the speeds.

I have no idea. They have put a lot up there, but also deorbited quite a few.

How they distribute data, bandwidth, and such is probably key and tightly held? Not to mention how the hardware will track and such. I have no doubt that it will eventually be mobile.

No matter what, I am stoked for global coverage. No more lack of service, esp in an emergency.

Does Starlink have issues with the weather ?
I'm a previous Direct TV dish owner ..... always had no service in Thunderstorms and Heavy Snow.

It’s far less sensitive since its low earth orbit (~350 miles vs 22,000). It’ll also get better as density increases

I live in an area with heavy rain, snow, or wind—can I still use Starlink?

Your Starlink will detect and melt snow that falls directly on it, however accumulating snow around your Starlink may block the field of view. We recommend installing Starlink in a location that avoids snow build-up and other obstructions from blocking the field of view. Heavy rain or wind can also affect your satellite internet connection, potentially leading to slower speeds or a rare outage.

The hardware is supposed to detect snow and melt it.

On the DirecTV side, we had one of their first HD dishes that had a peek-a-boo view of the southern sky through power lines and trees. It was covered in snow on a few occasions and never had a signal issue. At our current house, we had the upgraded dish with a completely open view to the southern sky and it would get trashy signals in decent rain or worse. At about that time, fiber optic came along and we have stuck with that.

Faaaaaaaa-ck. Yeah. Jump on that. And, let us know how it goes.

Before we had broadband at the old house, it was difficult. A neighbor needed broadband for his work, so he got HughesNet. Back in the early-2000s. He was kind enough to setup a couple directional antennas and beam us the juice. He also knew how to hack the DirecTV access cards. Mainly unlimited prem channels and porn. It was a slice of heaven.

I would never have thunk that a few hundred KPS would someday suck, but then I remember trying to DL pics and thinking that we'd never have streaming TV. Just amazing.
