I think this will be a good thing. As a new person to this, it was a bit chaotic trying to find where the latest information or place to follow up and get a response was. I do appreciate that you did take quick care of my issues. I would say the biggest takeaway is regardless, no one is getting help unless they email through zendesk. That is where I actaully got help.

I've seen it many times before bro. people ask valid questions no matter how many times its been asked you always have that one guy that has to be a smart ass about it. not trying to start anything with anybody just speaking my mind that's all. then again you always have the band wagon boot lickers, but its all good I'm chill

So I've successfully upgraded from the P5 Flash Utility Tool to vF Tuner, registered my VIN/calibration ID and received the 2.0 Final VFT tune packs. I noticed the .VFT files are the exact same as the previous .P5F files I have from 2019 when I first flashed 2.0 Final and they are same file size 2049 KB. Does this mean I do not need to flash again as there have been no changes to the 2.0 FINAL and this was simply just to switch to the new platform? For example the previous files are named 04A61_Premium_Stock_thx.p5f vs the new one I got which is 04A61_Premium_stock.vft so the only difference is the file format that has changed correct?

Sort of. While the map data in those files are the same, you now have a bunch of maps that you can freely edit with more coming with new versions.

If it was my Taco, I jump in there and turn off the 1st Gear and Reverse Torque Limits, turn up the Speed Limiter, and maybe bump up the Tire Size (radius) if you are on anything by the stock tires.

Gotcha, thanks for the info! Only problem I am having is as per step 7.3 - 7.4 of the installation guide, after pressing "Select Calibration File" it only allows me to select .VFC files and all the new files I just got from OVTune are .VFT files so they do not show up and I am unable to select any of the new files..

Make sure you have 1.2.9.9.9 and open a .vft file with vftuner then export it to a folder of choice. Once exported it is automatically changed to a .vfc file with the new upgrade.

I am using 1.2.9.9.9 but unfortunately I do not have the option of opening .VFT files with my vF Tuner to export, the options are not able to be selected and are greyed out.

This is the question I’ve had the last couple of days. The new “lite” vF does NOT have the ability to open files.
Also, it can only flash .VFC files.
The tune pack (in fact I never got one, mine are all .P5F still) is .VFT

So if you get upgraded, and get the tune pack. They cannot be flashed….

I hear the stock tunes will be updated to .VFC in 1.3.0 but what about tune packs and how will we go about requesting those? Seems like we have to email in a follow up to request our 2.0 tunes be in .VFC format.

Understood, I guess I will have to reply to the support desk email and request the stock tune 2.0 Final files in .VFC format. I'm assuming I have the "lite" version because I didn't pay the $79 to upgrade to the full version since I do not have the need to edit files since I'm happy with the stock 2.0 Final version the way it is.

Did you purchase the tune pack? If so you should have gotten an email from Mat with a link to access tunes for the ECU you requested. If NOT the factory tune is in C:/program files (x86)/vftuner/tacoma

Contact support@ovtune.zendesk.com and let Mat know what is going on.

I am one of the original P5F Utility flash kit users with orange ODBII and have been tuning with that since early release many years ago (pre 1.05). I upgraded from P5F Utility to vF Tuner recently as it was mandatory so I'm not sure if this means I've purchased any tune packs? Seems like I just need to request the v2.0 Final files from support desk in .VFC since the vF Tuner "lite" version restricts me from opening any files and convert them from .VFT to .VFC format. I only want to run the stock v2.0 Final files and don't require the need to edit tunes, thanks for the help much appreciated!

Mat said he was working on them BUT I would send him another message to support@ovtune.zendesk.com with your email info, and order number.

Yes contact Mat at support@ovtune.zendesk.com and he will get you the files needed for your ECU.

Will do, seems a bit counterproductive that they didn't think of this before sending out the files as I'm sure there currently are/will be many old P5F users who will be doing the mandatory upgrade to vF Tuner and most if not every one of them will be running into this issue. Hopefully OVTune sees this and will just send out .VFC files to begin with to avoid the mass emails that will be coming in requesting .VFC files because they aren't able to flash with .VFT files like me therefore OVTune doesn't have to do the emailing work twice. Cheers!
