Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Really looking forward to a revised Torque converter map update aka 1.03 for AT, and hopefully your purchase of a 3.5L AT. This is something that is going to make or break whether or not I continue to run OVTune or part ways with it, and eventually the truck.

I, like some other users on here, have no significant improvements driving with OVTune to date. All driveability improvements felt are either extremely mild or inconsistent. I've run 1.01B, 1.02B, and 1.02C-A with little to write home about. After playing around for a while, I still think the stock tune drives the smoothest in my truck, and certainly yields the best MPG. Currently have 1.02c-A loaded with well over 500 miles on it, around 3,000 miles total across all versions. I'll be testing 1.02C-C this weekend.

 

May have missed it...Did he mention when 1.03 will drop and if all that have paid
for the tune will have it sent to them? Or if we need to request it?

These trucks really are something... for me 1.01B is the most consistent and smooth. The 1.02c tunes were the absolute smoothest initially for me but introduced some roughness after 7-800miles. Stock tune was never anywhere near as smooth as 1.01B or even the 1.02c before learning took hold. With 1.01b it doesn’t degrade in terms of ignition or other factors though the transmission still does it’s weird thing it still isn’t as bad as stock since the pedal actually means throttle so it’s quicker to downshift when I actually need it to vs the delays. But point being there is so much variability in these trucks. Some folks loved 1.02b - it didn’t work well for me. Some folks see no degradation in the 1.02c tunes, not me. Some folks had toughness and stuttering on 1.01b, but not me. And you feel no benefit over stock although in the end these trucks shouldn’t have THAT much variability

I follow this thread daily, and I almost missed the window on the last order but I was able to get the 2nd to last one.
