Question for everyone who might know. Since the kit is sold out, assuming i already own the software and hardware to dump and flash the ECU, how much would it cost to just pay for the calibration data?

    That’s a question only for @OVTune.

Unless you have one of his kits purchased from someone else or something I think you’d still need his hardware - even if you did have a Tactrix or equivalent you’d still need the dongle that serves as copyright protection and license to protect OPs IP... but yes the man who works the magic can answer definitely ;-)

OVtuned uses the PCMflash and Tactrix Openport which he does not own. The only IP is the calibration data that he provides with the kit. @OV could you shed some light on this topic? Thank you.

Agreed, and I know OV mentioned he's knee deep in R&D and not as heavy in the forums right now... The gap I think would be in the dongle itself which is the security key that is somewhat proprietary. Even if you have the Tactrix and PCMFlash I don't think you can write his files w/o a registered dongle (a small USB device) due to his piracy protection. Could be wrong, but I think that's the key that allows you to write - no matter if you have the rest of the hardware, it ain't letting you write an OVTune w/o his "blessing" via the dongle.

The dongle is part of PCMFlash. Without that security device, PCMFlash will not work at all. I recall reading somewhere at ovtuned.com that if you have all the necessary software and hardware combo, they can do the calibration data only. I just cant find it again, lol.

IIRC, what you describe is correct. The dongle enables PCMFlash. The OVTune is protected by being tied to the VIN of your truck.

sorry for the delay...vacationed for a bit! I had San Diego Gear and Axle do the diff work. I'd heard the TRD OR doesn't have 4.56s but the TRD Sport does because it has the smaller rear axle. if you are going to get in there you might as well do lockers IMO.
