Once again everyone, completely disregard any and all dyno data you see really below about 3k rpms... its just not valid.

I don't plan on modding my truck for performance long term but if you need testing/input from someone who knows what's going on, I've been tuning and modding cars since the HKS VPC days.

 

I understand why you say that, but really that is the biggest reason a lot of people are interested (myself included). The butt dyno will have to do once OV tunes are in the wild

@OVTune i assume you need some closed loop full rpm range datalogged runs? Let me know what gear would be the best for data and ill get started for us manual transmission owners.....

 

Will there be an additional tune for those of us who do want to push the engine a bit more? Maybe one for us who have bolt ons? Exhaust, Intake etc.

 

Or will it autotune itself? It might be to completed with the trucks, but they sell power commanders foe motorcycles now that autotune to what's on the bike so you don't have to Dyno it

 

Yes throttle changes were adjusted for ECT and non ECT mode, and we can tailor that to your liking

as others have suggested you can ignore the very low end of the dyno graph, below about 2300 RPM, the dip and behind it is where I enable the load ramping on the dyno so in reality that dip isn't real.

Also there is no power difference stock or tuned with ECT and non ECT mode, only changes to transmission response and throttle response, mainly throttle response. What toyota did was swap over to map sets that are (literally) identical to variant lexus vehicles with "sport +" mode and delayed upshifting upon WOT.

Manual transmission cars will benefit greatly from the changes we have done today and I suspect in the long term manuals will eventually outperform the autos.

We have enabled the kits on our webstore, we pl. We will be emailing out setup instructions for everyone who already has a kit for calibration collection.

Our current tune is for 91 octane. We can make a majority of the same changes for vehicles who wish to stay on 87 octane, with the exception to changes to ignition. So you'll get all of the throttle / load / gearbox(if auto), torque control adjustments, but ignition will remain near stock.


A couple other notes:
Atkinson mode is controlled by camshaft angle. The camshafts are controlled electronically and the angle changes relative to RPM and load. So there isn't a "atkinson on, atkinson off" type of setup it is continually changing depending upon what RPM you are at and what the calculated engine load is.
Atkinson mode is still fully functional on this tune (it's used in areas at low and mid load, mainly low RPM)

yes, our calibration kits allow for fully custom tuning, as we expect most people won't remain stock.

I wouldnt mind a E-85 mix tune scaled with some more ignition timing.....

 

what about tunes for performance exhausts? Will you create a new map for those?

 

Yes I think there is two left going out tomorrow.

Yes. the changes to the tune are not going to be "big" changes but should allow us to safely get more ignition and lean the AFRs so we don't quench the cylinders so much.

(just because the tune wont' change a lot doesn't mean power wont. Stock exhaust on any toyota..."sucks" for power)

The engine has no header, rather single ports on each side so there shouldn't need to be any valve specific changes to the tune, only adjustments to modify for increased flow.

 

Whats the difference between the "2017 Automatic" and the "TRD Auto/Man"??

Do you expect the 91 octane tune to keep MPG close to factory ratings?

 

Would running 93 cause any problems? BJs gas in my area only has 87 and 93?
