Unfortunately, the extra hp and torque down low do not change the fact that our peak torque comes on way too high in the revs. If I could get the 4,000 rpm pull at 2,500 rpms I’d spend boatloads of cash. IMO, the most desirable option would be a cam swap and ecu custom map.
The regear will get you higher in the revs quicker and make 5th feel like your current 4th and 6th feel closer to 5th.
I have not regeared yet and get worse gas mileage leaving the truck in D - S5 brings the best mpg on the highway for me.

One thing to note though - ARES32 unfortunately has the same ECU version as I do - 04B10. We don't have all the benefits of the tune yet (it doesn't play nicely in our trucks at all). Yours would be 04B11 or 04B12, being a '17. Not saying it would make a world of difference, just that it MAY be a better experience for you.

I absolutely agree except people are going to complain about how going forced induction is to expensive for them.

It pulls it fine 3700 lbs loaded. Just stating it with tune or stock down low it feels the same....

No matter how tuned the truck is it won’t change the fact the power is made up top not below. No tune is going to give you what you’re looking for. You can tow a flat bed trailer with nothing on it and you’ll feel it with this truck. The only way you’ll get what your looking for is super or turbo charging the truck.

Like i said im stating with my 04B10 "test tune", stock tune feels similar when towing my TT. Simple concept to understand really. I'm not saying with a N/A tune I should magically be able to tow a 5th wheel or a yacht. At the same time when the 04B10 ECU I have finally gets figured out I can assure you OVTune will be able to get more torque lower in the rpm band with ignition advance/valve timing alone. Unfortunately at the moment changes in ignition advance/retard throws me and other 04B10 owners into limp mode. Its happened twice to me. Plus I run a GT 2871 tuned with a Cobb Accessport on my Mazdaspeed 3 so I understand forced induction is the true power maker. That and displacement.

Yes throttle response is noticeably better along with a torque increase and alittle more usable power. Don’t get me wrong, OVTunes tune is a night and day difference but we are still talking about towing here. All I’m trying to say is this tune makes the truck drive better and feel better but it’s not going to make a huge difference on the towing side as the engine makes most of its power up top.
I’ve towed with 2nd gen and the 3rd gen Tacoma’s, it’s not fun at all.

I'm never going to spend the money to supercharge or turbo my truck. I will just drive it until it makes sense to trade it. I will be buying a travel trailer this year. If it does not pull it like I want, then I will buy a full-size. The tune has made the truck tolerable.
