I rarely ever use cruise so can't comment on that, but driving 75 on the highway without cruise it holds 6th much better and even the occasional downshifts to 5th are so subtle that I rarely even notice and I have yet to see it downshift to 4th on an incline as is common with these trucks.

Man I cannot wait to try this out! I just got my kit. Now I need to find a windows computer! Or buy a copy of Windows for my mac...
Will windows 10 work with all the software needed?
Anybody have a recommendation where to find just the windows OS on the cheap for my Mac?

If you search this thread for Insider Edition or something of the sort you should find some directions that a forum member posted a few months back - probably July timeframe IIRC that outlines how to install windows on your Mac for free. This is what I did on my mac and am using VirtualBox with the insider edition of Windows 10. I installed it, downloaded necessary drivers / files, then I disconnected it from the internet. You have to create a 10+ GB partition to run windows on there so it will eat up some space and I didn't want it always downloading updates and such. My work flow now is, download tune files from email to a USB flash drive, disconnect from Wifi/internet, open up my virtual box with windows, copy over the file(s), then flash my truck. Works well though the way it runs in virtual box Windows is SLOOOOW it doesn't need to be robust for the single use I have for it - still flashes the truck in <5 mins once you get through the initial read steps.

Excited to get the tune now. Lets hope torque learning does not ruin this. So far it seems like a great tune from what im reading!

How many of you run just the 87 tune or have ran the 87? Big difference between the two octanes? is it worth the extra gas price constantly of running 91 or is it good to run 87 for daily then switch to 91 on a weekend kinda deal ! Curious to know if the gas price difference is worth it for when I get it!

I ran 1.02A 91 for about a thousand miles, then switched to 1.02C 91 for about 5 thousand miles, learning ruined the tune so I switched to 1.02A 87 last week. Daily commute, the difference between 87 and 91 is very minimal. I cannot speak to towing differences.

I plan to try the 87 tune at some point, but have held out for the last few months simply b/c my truck ran like garbage when stock on 87. More exhaust vibes in steering/floor and the chirps on the fuel pump were a lot louder on 87 vs. the VPower I've been putting in for the last 5 months or so and when OV came out with the 87 tunes I was (and still am) loving running 93 on the 91 tune so much I didn't want to jinx it... reports are really good on 87 though so I will be testing it (with 1/2 tank 87 to start) :)

It's expensive and may make no difference in the long-run, but the placebo alone of feeling VPower is magically cleaning my engine helps me naively sleep a bit better at night especially knowing how hard it is on an engine to do a lot of the idling like I do during the week on long commutes in traffic... :fingerscrossed:

Bshammer0, you said at first it seemed you might be getting about a 10% increase in mileage.
    Just wondering has that continued..?

Seems to have leveled out, but I need a good long highway drive @ 70mph to confirm. Definitely no less MPGs but time will tell whether increased MPGs stick.

Considering learning is present in both 1.02A and 1.02C, was there any particular reason you did not re-flash 1.02C instead of switching to 1.02A? Do you like one over the other, disregarding the learning which occurs over time?

1.02C have stock 5-6 gear shift logic, which I don't care for. 1.02A hold 5th and 6th much better on highway. My only complaint on 1.02A (besides learning) is the overly aggressive 1st gear. But given the choice between the two, I chose 1.02A. I switched to 87 octane since most of my commute is highway, I don't tow or race either lol.

I am running 1.02A 87oct as well. I can't say I have many complaints, other than it does seem the 5 and 6 gear shifting could still be improved upon. The truck also does not stay in 3rd gear long at all, but that may be the short 3rd gear more than anything else. Regardless, it is a world of difference over the stock tune, so i'll hold any complaints until after a finial tune has been completed.

Under cold start, I am experiencing an occasional "flair" with a 500-700rpm jump between my 2-3 shift. This only happens under certain conditions, and seems to always be under a cold start, low load between the 2-3 shift only. It is important to note this also happened with the stock tune, and if anything, was more prevalent using the stock tune. I have never had the truck "flair" during the 2-3 shift more than once per driving session. Anyone else have this problem?

So from an outside source- Is it safe to say us that are "on the fence" should wait until the new version is out rather than buying anything now?

I suspect if you ordered now, by the time you got your kit, registered the dongle, captured the stock maps, sent off to Mat and received the updated tune, you will be getting 1.03. It's not a fast process by most standards so you've got some time between now and then.

Awesome, thanks. I've played my fair share of alpha tested video games (draws some perspective)
As eager as i am ill probably wait for feedback on the tune and hope for a final product.

    Thanks.

    A couple things
I’m in the same boat. As soon as the final product is out, with learning defeated or severely restricted, I’m all over this.

You're getting any new revisions with the initial price of admission and the sooner you get ANY version of OV's tunes is a day of more enjoyable Tacoma ownership. Each version gets better and better but dating back to the initial 1.01b tune it was and still is exponentially more enjoyable to drive FWIW. Jump off that fence! :)

the funny part will be when all the "on the fence waiting until..." people get off the fence and go to buy it. and then, the line...

if you really want the tune and hope it will get better, then buy it. you both get it in your actual lifetime AND it will get better (because development doesn't stop until folks stop buying and the vehicles stop selling). of course I'm on a MT and have no idea what i'm talking about.
