1.03 sounds amazing. Only one question that hasnt really been answered. Is the torque learning elimated? Or at least to a point where it will not effect in a negative way? Cupid lol

I see your truck is a '16.. when was she built?

Edit: Oops, I just realized your truck is a limited.. no probs with ECU version for you (like us early production M/Ts).

I'm running a test version of 1.03 and I can tell you the learning has been further minimized but is still present, however the reason I was allowed to test was to provide shift data and since that time he has improved the tune and is likely 100 versions ahead of the test I'm running so I'm optimistic he'll nail it. Until then I'm loving the hell out of the AFR, VVTi, throttle, ignition changes I'm driving on my early 1.03 test baby!

You won't be sorry. I wasn't sure I wanted to keep my 3rd gen the way it ran. Figured just take the hit & get a solid 2nd gen. Followed this since birth, read reviews, threw out the outliers and bought @OVTune's tune. Man, did my truck wake up! I had 25K miles stock tune, so I had pretty much knew how to anticipate it's shortcomings on passing & such. Truck just scoots when I tell it to scoot now. Is there a hiccup once in a while, maybe. But I'm way happier paying $750 for the small hiccups as Mat fine tunes it then the $36K I spent on my truck originally. Sorry this post went on, but hands down, best bang for the buck I've done to my truck. No rhyme intended. Hats off to Mat at @OVTune, can't wait to see what 1.03 brings.

How does this tune effect the warranty, is it traceable by the dealer?? Also, is it expected to reduce the life of your engine?

Tried reading my ecu after pasting and activating successful licensing. Closed and restated Pcmflash.

Key on Engine off, dongle plugged into 2nd USB port, flash drive plugged in on one usb. Selected p5-can

“Identification” tab is still greyed out. Can’t select to read ECU. Waited some time (30 min). Still greyed out and not readiable.

Searched 150 pages. No info on not be able to read ecu and not searching another 350 pages.

    Any help?

Somewhere in this 500+ page thread, answered a few times, is the response that Toyota cannot tell if the ECU has been flashed and returned to stock. But like all tunes, you are on your own with this one regarding warranty. Evaluate the vendor, your risk tolerance, and make your decision. There's enough info in the thread indicating that the engine may actually run cleaner and with less misfires. There's also comments pro/con regarding gas mileage. The overwhelming opinion so far is that the truck is better with the tune than without the tune. I have mine, but am waiting on the final version of 1.03 before I install. I have 1500 miles on my 2018 OR if that helps you decide.

ECU can’t be bricked. Toyota can’t tell if the tune is there.

Also, it’s very very easy to flash back to stock if you’re worried.

The only “trace” that something happened is in techstream there is time and distance since last DTC reset. This resets every time you flash, it also resets every time you unplug your battery. So Toyota won’t say anything and think it’s normal. If they somehow do ask, just say you unplugged your battery one day to reset your radio or something.

Is the install easy for a novice? If I understand correctly they give you a cable that connects to the port on the drivers side. You then download said program on your laptop to the Vechicles ECU... Sorry I am a complete novice to this kinda stuff...
