"ShiftSense Pro is a plug-and-play solution which requires no modifications to the OEM programming, instrumentation, or the ECU. It is enabled and operates automatically when the gear-selector is placed in the sequential-shift "S" mode."

I've owned the shiftsense since release. Tune is much more useful so I ordered it but I'm debating what to do with my shiftsense. Sounds like it may be useless.

Dylon gave a fair description of what it does. Basically an add on that helps hold gears longer and shift better based on obd data. Here's a link to a graph for the shifts.

just some engine data, logs for load at higher elevation. since load is greatly affected, the tune will need adjusted

    editing**

we can most likely do what it does but in D mode, there are many many mapped shift points in D mode, but not so much in S, although we can adjust S mode map points as well.

in the future we may look into doing what we do on lexus transmissions,

This is why I cancelled my shiftsense order. Props to the guy who came up with it on here.

    But

I'd like to keep my "manual" functions available, while the OV tune gets the shift points correct while in "drive"

I ordered the Shift Sense Pro but have not installed it yet...maybe tomorrow if it shows up.

You can cancel the Shift sense at any time by manually shifting up or down in S mode. It requires a shift back to Drive then into S below 65mph to re-enable the Shift Sense. So you CAN have manual shifting whenever you want. But from the sounds of the OV tune, I agree Shift Sense Pro may be not necessary as OV can address the shifting via the tune and you get more useable power.

    From DZ Custom's FAQ:
How do I turn-on/engage the device?Short answer: Start the truck, place shift lever in "S" and go.

More detailed answer: With the power switch turned on, ShiftSense™ Pro will power up and establish communication with the OBD system automatically as soon as the vehicle is turned on or started. The power switch may be left on at all times if desired because the unit obtains power from the vehicle only when the key is ON. Two beeps are heard when the device has established communication with OBD and is ready for driving. This will occur within 1-2 seconds after turning the vehicle on or powering on the device. ShiftSense™ Pro remains totally inactive until the operator places the vehicle in the Sequential/Sport-mode "S" with the shift lever. When shifted to "S", the device will engage immediately and begin automatic control of all shifting. A single beep will be heard when the unit engaged successfully. The vehicle speed must be less than 65 mph to allow the unit to initially engage. If the device is ever cancelled, it can be re-engaged by shifting back to Drive "D", and back into Sequential "S".

How do I cancel the control if I want to drive with the OEM manual sequential-shift mode?

Simply make an S+ or S- shift by hand. At this point, the system cancels, provides an alarm, and reverts back to manual control. The device will stand-by and remain inactive until it is intentionally re-engaged by the operator (moving the lever into drive, and back to Sequential "S").

Nice to have both options and both at reasonable prices.

URD sells a dummy plug that keeps the O2 Sensor from tripping the CEL. I used it on my 09 when I installed the Doug Thorley LT headers. Anyone know if they are compatible with the 3rd Gen?

I have the Shift Sense it helps a lot... I could see this helping the tune out even more by looking at that graph. it would keep it in the power range better..

Power extractors would be kick ass, just keep in mind when paired with the spec u and/or URD y-pipe, you'll be running no cats at all.... Which would definitely increase the exhaust flow. I have just their y-pipe with a custom exhaust, and I could tell an increase in flow, just from removing the rear set of cats.

Also, technically with no cats, you'd be illegal, emissions testing aside... I know, I know, I don't really care either. Have to pass emissions here in Houston area to get registration though, otherwise I'd already have ordered them.

Side note:. You can still pass a emissions test with just the rear set of cats removed.

Only will throw a CEL with the front cats removed; i.e. the power extractors Installed. No CELs with y-pipe and/or spec u.

    ^^^This^^^

    ^^^And This^^^

Don't need it for the spec u exhaust or y-pipe. May work when paired with the power extractors... Don't know, no one on here has bought them yet, probably due to the reasons mentioned above.

By exhaust do you mean muffler swap to something more free flowing or a whole catback system?

    Working on it.
Order placed #1851. TRD Pro. I am running the trd exhaust. I know it is nothing like the URD set up it should breath a little bit better than stock. I am looking forward to the future development and product support.

@OVTune I haven't seen this topic covered yet but were the upgraded tire size and weight accounted for in the tune? I know yall deal alot in tuner cars but trucks have few different modifications to deal or tune in parameters. For instance I run E rated 285/75/16 KO2 with a 59 lbs/tire with FN wheels at 18 lbs/ rim some drivers run mid-high 20's on wheel size and/or other rated tire sizes. Was all that extra rotating mass and tire diameter change taken into account? Will your tune first fix the speedometer to help correct the gear shifts in automatic? Second I assume when we take order of a tune we will have to fill out the modifications of tire diameter, weight and gears to get proper tunes to correct the gear shifts in automatic?

For me I see this tune for my future modification of upgrading to 315/75/16 (35") tires and help manage the drive and hold off on getting 4.88 gears for awhile. If I can get the truck to stay in gears longer I can keep in the power range to keep pushing heavier tires with out it trying to shift every 10 secs to keep it in a higher gear. Also looking for better throttle response that should be fun but bad on the wallet. :)

Has the warranty issue been answered? Can we reflash the ECU without a counter being tripped before heading to the dealer? I know I saw this answered by @OVTune in the earlier pages but this thread has gotten lit AF.
