Successful flash. 91 oct. About to drive

 

Flash manager will work, but you won't be able to do anything with it besides download the tunes I think. So yeah, you need to email Mat for the registration process, because flashing the truck is the important bit

 

Maybe one of tyou guys can answer this since mats busy making my weekend right now.

I originally got six flash files from him, 3 were labelled 87octane the other three weren't labelled, we're those for running 91?

I put in a tank of premium in anticipation last night and now I have to reflash to 91 cause it's driving weird.

 

It shouldn’t drive “weird” with higher octane, only with lower than the tune.

 

The unlabeled ones are 91/93 octane.

Sorry man..I am filipino and sometimes my English doesn't make sense. I just confused if this tune makes the 3rd generation tacoma low end torque feel like 2nd Gen or better?

 

So I just went out and tested the 1.02 tune. I think he only gave me the ECU flash and not the TCU flash. I think I have to wait for tomorrow to try the 1.03. However, what I tested today was an incredible and drastic improvement over how the truck used to drive. I don't know how a 2nd Gen drives, but I feel this drives how I remember cars and trucks USED to drive before all the drive by wire. I think this guy is incredible, and this product is incredible and worth it already from just what I tested today. I'm even more excited for tomorrow.

 

You should have taken the leap and went straight 1.03! But glad you’re loving 1.02!!

I feel like an ass now, I’m sorry! It helps out the low end torque and also it disables the transmission learning means it will shift the same all the time. Plus it enables the truck to hold gears instead of constantly hunting like it does on the highway. There is a few pictures posted of throttle position vs speed and it holds gears very well now. So it will in a sense make it act like the older 5 speed in terms of shifting.
