Nothing to warrant that gas mileage haha. Its my commute. 2.5 miles of rolling hills and cold weather.

Mods are 2.5-3" lift, 285 MTRs, All Pro sliders, CBI hidden bumper/Winch, bed cover.

My last 3 Toyotas (4runner and FJs) have had a lot more weight added and got substantially better gas mileage with a similar commute. Really missing the 4.0 setup that has always worked.

EDIT- I didnt buy a truck for gas mileage. But was just surprised at how quickly it fell.

I've always felt that sometimes the bean counters and engineers go too far. They design something, then see how much mpg they can get out of it. Then it's a 'win' when they hit their goal. Rather than design something, and see how crappy they can make it perform; i.e. mpg. This is a situation where the engine may be throttled and underpowered, thus you have to whip it to get performance. And in turn, you lose the benefits of the smaller engine. I mean, how can my 10 years older FJ with a big 4.0L 6-can and the air profile of a brick (big brick at that), get equal or better gas mileage? And at 190k miles, I drove it like I stole it. And yet, over the life of the vehicle I averaged 16.5 mpg with religious logging through Fuelly. I've been 'sort of babying' this thing. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Through about 8 tanks now I'm averaging 17.2 mpg (granted, on winter formula).

Oh well. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the truck and am just waiting on the final 1.03 so I can install and be happy.

What???? He's only got to finish shifting from second to third while cold! That's just like turn on the air conditioning on high, speed up, and then shift... right??? No more than a couple minutes max and the release will be here!

Well, I don’t think any vehicle will get great gas mileage 2.5 miles and cold weather with hills. Shit, your 12.5 is actually really good for that.

I feel bad for your engine since it doesn’t get up to temperature.

People need to be careful on these forums when saying stuff like this. Saying you get 12.5 MPG may push away potential buyers. But not giving important details as to why it’s 12.5 mpg is wrong.

I wish that was the case but I doubt it.
Unless he’s out tonight testing in the cold I don’t see a release tonight or tomorrow happening.

believe me everyone I want to get it out to you and get some feedback from other trucks but in it's current form it still needs some touch ups to the transmission. I have a damn near perfected 1.03 but it does not have any of the latest improvements which made all this extra power and response. As a result the transmission settings need touched up to match.

So let me get this straight since there is no way I’m going through 500 pages of this lol

Right now we have the opportunity to pre-order the $750 dongle which will eventually come with the free 1.03 version of flashes?

Was the 1.02 or 1.01 released to people? Has anyone tested this?

Also, do we get a selection of ecu tunes to pick or favorite or is it one size fits all?

I am frustrated with my mpg now but want to fully understand this mod before dropping the cash and finding a windows computer to borrow since I only own Mac...

You can always count on my truck to misbehave if you need any additional testing lol. I can continue to provide feedback with the test tune you sent me. I don’t know if you’ve been getting my last few emails though.
