Ironically, the Taco was the first after many that required 91 or better. Never really bothered me except when it was like five bucks a gallon...

Compression ratio on our engine is close to 12:1, 11.8:1 listed, using anything lower than 91 octane will kill power. Arizona/Phoenix temps are in the 110 range during the day during the summer, fresh air intake temps are high. The engine going to retard the S*** out of timing. That's why Mat said 93 octane would be better.

Dealers/Manufactures say it's okay to use the lower octane fuel. Just a selling point without regard to power output.

Buy a Cheapie laptop to do the install. If you're dropping 750 on a tune, the extra 50 to install it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Is the Dyno report showing the gains everyone is hoping for? I am running 285/70/17's plus winch bumper , full set of steal skid plates including aluminum fuel tank skid and sliders so i have added quite a bit of weight!! I was going to get the 4.88 gear change but that's like $2500 if the tune can improve the stock gearing enough can i skip the gear change or is the gear change the best option?Looking long term with the tune i may spend more money on it then the gear change with the cost of fuel and loss of more MPG's! Any thoughts?

I bought a cheap refurbished on eBay. $120. Not bad considering the 4th of July sale

Honestly, if it costs an extra 10 bucks a tank, that's still 200 or so fill ups before breakeven. Even at my current 3k miles/month, that's a few years before the 4.88's would have been the same cost. IMO, I'd go tune if you're dailying, but the 4.88's are super tempting for actual crawling.
