Yeah I agree URD can definitely work on the fit, but once it’s installed it’s all good. It does get a bit loud between 2000 to 3500 rpm, but overall I like the way it sounds. Definitely a personal preference thing.

Youll see where the engine cuts/stalls. Not the best vid but demonstrates my issue pre-tune
Not sure if this will solve the issue, but try this:
It seems a few MT guys had this and one solved it by re flashing, turning off the truck after flash, starting and letting it idle for a solid 15 minutes without touching anything or doing anything that would cause rpm spike, turning truck back off, restarting and then driving.

I have not had one issue with hesitation/surging in the mid rage rpm (2-3k) aside from the normal aktison/otto cycle switching BS.

Good to know. Either way, I was never able to do a 0-60 sec test due to the 1-2 sec surge/delay at full throttle from 1st to 2nd gear. This is on all the previous and current tune. 2nd gear on shifts fine at full throttle.

Video will be post tomorrow to better understand the problem. :)
Well cant upload the vidv... The problem is when accelerating from a dead stop. Again this is pre tune

Ok lets try this. NO TUNE. ALL STOCK. This engine cut is what I've been dealing with and hope this tune fixes it because it's maddening. You'll see that just after a thousand RPMs the truck stalls momentarily.

Well the gearing by itself makes a huge difference...especially with this anemic set up Toyota put in this truck! The tune just further helps improve its drivability with bigger tires, and extras you’ve loaded on your truck.

this thread got quiet.. no posts since 6:39 this morning, slowest i have seen it in a long time!

..i placed an order for this tune, hopefully its worth it. Seems like even a tune doesnt fix this engine/trans for some people though

    Wheres your video dylon?

My dongle is sitting at the UPS center 3 miles away so I don’t have the tune yet but I had the same experience last week. I take this same turn everyday but it has only happened once so far.

Well I don't expect the tune to make the truck perfect. I do expect it to make the drive a lot more fun as well as smoother. Even if it still struggles on the highway, i usually just shift it to S5 and leave it there anyway. My biggest gripe is the low end torque and the bogging which this reportedly fixes. With any luck Mat will come through with the codes today and I can upload my own review video of different driving conditions. Hes changed a lot but unfortunately he wont be able to change the gear ratio from a tune.

Its just to demonstrate the rpm dropout after 1k.

Hey guys, I didn't read the ECU/TCU and send to Mat. I just wrote 1.03. Am I ok, or will I miss some benefit? The load seemed successful.

That's how the new instructions say to do it, no more sending off the ecu read info unless you have an ecu build number that doesn't match one of the available tunes. You're good to go!

Gotcha, I thought so. I did get the new style black dongle. I guess I got confused when he said send serial number + files. Thanks

I torqued them to 80 ft pounds. 52 just seemed way to light for those diameter u bolts. I think it’s a combo of spring/axle wrap and driveshaft bind on the slip yoak. Back too tune talk! Don’t want to get banned.

So yesterday I did several pulls in 6th gear on the freeway.

For the first time ever the truck pulled from 60 to 80 without shifting. This was under very light load, 1/8 of a peddle depressed or less. I had to initially accelerate to above 75 to get the truck to settle into 6th then decelerate and accelerate slowly from 60.

I repeated the process with cruise control on, just bumped the speed up 2 or 3 mph at a time.

5th gear pull and accelerates better than ever. Probably as good as this truck will ever, with the factory tranny gears.

    I could not agree more.

With my last vehicle I spent over $1400 on a top of the line cat back and another $900 on a high flow catted down-pipe. All to turn around and sell the cat-back for a $950 replacement less than a year later for the exact reasons you mention (sans fitment). What I ultimately ended up with after the second swap, was a high flow setup that sounded a tad deeper than stock but on a DB scale was little to no louder than stock unless you were hard on the throttle. Then it would open up and have a very nice, throaty sound to it.

I feel like the vast majority of us that have buying power and are willing to spend money on high dollar exhaust systems / aftermarket performance products, are looking for over-all drivability in addition to performance gains. whether it be exhaust or a $6000 turbo kit, it needs to drive like something you bought of the lot, have the reliability that comes with OEM, and be feasible for every day activities in addition to the harsh conditions a lot of us put our trucks through on the weekends. That shouldn't have to involve pissing off the wife and children on the way to get dinner, or putting a pair of ear muffs on the infant taking her to day-care.

Yep. Last thing most of us want is a catless system with a single muffler. I really hope the twin turbo kit won’t be obnoxious.
