Wow. So I drop off my truck on Thursday morning for the dyno testing, went in to work a little late, and pick it up late Thursday. Did a little test run with Mat, but really didn't have much time, as I had more work at home to get to. Immediately noticed was the lack of lag in throttle response right off the jump. Almost seemed as if it was in ECT mode. Made the 7 mile drive back home thru local traffic. What I noticed here was again, immediate throttle response - step on the gas and the engine is responding. No quirkiness with shifting noticed, as it seemed to either be staying at a lower gear, or simply applying more torque to go.
Yesterday morning was more of my test. I had to drive 70 miles to my workplace HQ offices, mostly highway. Throttle response is again noticeably better. I guess I've gotten used to how it's driven previously, so this stood out throughout my drive. Almost felt like I'm working the engine too much, but know this isn't the case. Big difference I did notice was going from a cruising speed in the left lane of 80 mph to then faster. This is where I noticed the extra HP -- I was surprised to be already over 90 mph with a little extra push on the pedal. Had to check myself there - not used to passing people with that much ease. Engine seemed "livelier". I was paying attention to MPG's, but to be honest, I can't rely on that just yet and don't want to report because I was really pushing on the pedal to see what was happening. Wouldn't be fair to compare this to normal hwy driving. There is a big gradual hill that I drive thru on the 73, and on that drive, that's where I'd encounter some gear shifting/searching issues we all talk about, however this time, I'd have to say it tended to stay in a lower gear longer, so maybe working more than I'd want. Maybe if I had a manual, I may have shifted up, but tbh, it got me up the hill quicker than I'd normally have gotten.
On the way home last night, there was a lot of traffic due to a plane crash on the 405, and it was bumper to bumper most of the way, so no real feedback here aside from again, better throttle response.
It seems there are a few people waiting for feedback, but sorry man, work and life is busy and a 4 days weekend is here. This is the first real chance I've had to look at the thread since I dropped my car off and wow, I think it was somewhere in the 40 something pages of response, and now we're in the 70 pages. We're all passionate about our tacoma's and I can only say that I'm happy with the update, especially since my major issue was throttle response. I got the latest Toyota ECU update a few months ago, and was pretty good with that addressing shifting issues. Didn't realize I was not getting all the torque / hp, so that's a bonus.
Beyond that, I'm not one to give much feedback until I have thoroughly tested and know all the facts, but I can say that the dyno data provided is generally accurate with my real world limited experience of driving it.
Lastly, my Tacoma does have a TRD Cold Air Intake and TRD Cat back exhaust. Does that affect baseline ? Maybe, maybe slightly, depending on who you ask. But I think the important thing is the difference pre and post tune, and throttle response. The tires are Toyo Open Country E Rated AT's 285/70/17, which I got partly because they are lighter than a lot of tires in it's class/size. Mat explained that this will likely result in a lower baseline, because of the weight, but again, important is the difference pre and post tune. I've also got Ray 10's, which I read somewhere are lighter than stock wheels.
Right now, this is all I got, and can and will post more feedback after I've had time to take her out more. I'l be paying attention to shifting and MPGs over the next week or so. Have a good weekend dudes. Now off to drive this thing more.

That's because Toyota really blew the torque curve, HP, shift points, drive-ability in general.
Especially with a really capable engine.

I had a Hummer H3 manual the second year it was made. It had the straight 5 cylinder engine the same one they stuffed in the Colorado. It had the same problem of being under powered for the weight of the truck. Going north up the hill to Flagstaff was a nightmare. I would drop down a gear put the pedal to the metal and topped out at 50 mph, now that sucked.

At least this engine is very capable of so much more.

Mat let me know if I can use your companies logo as my signature. Just want everyone to know I'm a customer and appreciate your companies work. Besides it looks cool!

Since this is 70+ pages I'd like to repost a couple things that were mentioned many pages ago

You are purchasing a lot more than just a reflash / simple tune.
    - Our kits allow for you to reflash our tune + we will have the capability to customize and dial in the tune for any / at their request.
    - You can easily reflash to stock at any time, for any reason.
    - A big one, you are eligible for any of our standard calibration service updates, totally free.
What that means is, lets say for the automatic transmission, we have a revised shift calibration that works better than before, or we have adjusted code in the torque limiters, etc, you can simply request the update and download it to your truck, free.
This is only scratching the surface, I'd recommend taking a look at what we have done with the lexus community. We have plans to develop just as much, if not more for the tacoma community due to the ecus flexibility.
Like how we just finished our flex fuel calibration implementation with a flex fuel kit from a company we work closely with.

At the bare minimum people can expect to get an increase in mid range torque, I think 25+ ft lbs is something very real and noticeable.

A great example is our RevA to RevB automatic trans tunes for the scion tC.
RevA consisted of a basic tune. ignition / fuel / cams / etc adjusted.
RevB updated with: shift enhancements to make the transmission shift faster, Upshift delete / Manual mode(allows you to "nanana' at the limiter instead of the car auto shifting), burnout mode (disables any shifting from 1rst gear automatically), and per gear rev limits. Everyone who wanted RevB updates got them, free.

working on some ecu files now, thanks everyone

I just really hope it fixes this:

Like why can't 6th gear be used going 77?

Lucky you can do 5th. Mine is in 4th 90% of highway drives with all the extra weight. Although I have 4.88 gears done I just need to find time to actually put the new diff in.

Turn cruise control off! Cruise control for some reason will downshift at even the slightest of inclines and i am talking like just going over a minor overpass! Are you driving up any kinda incline in this pic or is this level? I have same issue with cruise on pretty much just abandoned using cruise anymore! Truck still has the same issue without cruise but not as bad with my truck! I feel your FRUSTRATION with it!! Did you get your tune uploaded yet?

What I want out of this product for the asking price in order of preferrence:

    1. Improved Drivability
    2. Increase in MPG @ 87 Octane with no loss of power.
    3. An increase in MPG @ 91 Octane that more than offsets the increased $ for 91 octane with no loss of power.
    4. Increased power.

1 and 2 or 3 are requirements. I will happily take 4, but not at the expense of 1/2/3. Somebody has to be "Captain Sensible." ;) Coming from a 2005 Tundra DC with the V8, the drivability and the MPG are the only glaringly disappointing things about the Tacoma. The drivability is not even comparable, the Tundra was so much better. I got 14 MPG on the Tundra (75% city, 25% HW) and I'm getting 16 MPG with the Tacoma...with all the "advances" I expected to get a AT LEAST the city rating of 18 MPG for mixed driving. I am cautiously optimistic about the OVTune product at this point. I'm willing to bypass the discount to get some real world feedback from early adopters before I take the plunge, so to you early adopters, I say thanks for being the guinea pigs.

Yes i did. I actually drive some of the same areas he's talking about. Now dont hate on me for this but i have the ShiftSense pro and his results with the tune are kinda the same results i get with SSpro! Thats why i was hoping the tune can be updated for better Torque and HP results then the first dyno results! I thought we would see bigger numbers but i guess the test truck owner wanted a milder tune as to not hurt his truck i guess! I offered my truck as a test vehicle to tune at max setting but never heard back.

I agree they most likely have shut it down until Wednesday! I think everyone myself included need to calm down and give them time to get the test vehicles on the road and some test data in before making any decisions weather or not the bugs are out and they can get the most bang for our buck out of this tune! They dont even have any #'s to give us other then a guess from what they got out of other vehicle tune's they have done! I think it's safe to say OV tune may have jumped the gun as far as getting this set up for sales! without a finished product ready to roll out.

nobody bought it thursday until after we were finished on the dyno, results and information posted and then it was opened up that night.

we posted dyno numbers information, instagram live video (I'll admit was short and weak) and have been giving out information leading up to that for quite a while before hand.

nobody is "testing" anything. I am not sure how this thread got so flooded with all this inaccurate information. Nobody is running "test" tunes nobody is being a "mule." That was not the point of our alpha kits.....

sorry about that I will get back to you tonight.

    * We have now placed the kit in a temporary *out of stock* status. When we opened up after releasing our dyno results and tune information there was a larger amount of sales than expected. So we are going to coordinate with all of our customers, get them setup, and we will be setting our tunes into two blocks for timeline (automatic and manual cars). Then once we are happy we have fully taken care of the current customers without getting swamped with too many more we will open it back up.

Something to think about here... The default torgue curve is flat. With stock tires, if you COMPLETELY disable traction control, when I floor it in s4 I get zero wheel spin. It's just pull and the truck accelerates great to me. It's not a Camaro or mustang. However what happens on stock tires if you disable TC when you punch it with the ECU tune? Remember if the truck has to engage TC (break) to compensate then it defeats the purpose of greater power\torque. It's only usable power if its to the wheel and controllable.

Sounds like a great plan. @OVTune, please don't allow some of the nonsense on this forum to ruin anything. There are a lot of us that are not nasty. People that are nasty and put this process down, just have nothing good to say and should go to another thread/forum. A lot of us are being patient and love the fact that you have created this for us and are willing to give "free" upgrades at anytime after you purchase when new data is formed and increases are made. Again, people that think this is dumb and a waste of your time, go somewhere else then and stop ruining it for the rest of us that are excited for the "chance" that this can provide for all. I'm sure if it does work, which in my book has already started to prove that, you will jump right on board at that point in time. Again, it's a 4 day weekend. Please enjoy it and stop adding to this thread with nonsense. Let people add to this thread that have legit questions/feedback/and answers from OVTune. This is not a BS thread. This is specifically for the Tuning process. That's just what it is "process". I'm sure I speak for many when I say, I'm excited for this product and willing to wait as long as I need to wait in order for OVT to feel they have completed everything. I can't ask much more than what they are currently doing. I couldn't ask for better customer service than for a company to say, "we are going to coordinate with our customers, get them setup, and we will be setting our tunes into two blocks for timeline. Then once we are happy we have fully taken care of the current customers without getting swamped with too many more we will open it back up." Amazing!!! That is the best thing OVT could do and that is exactly what I would want from them myself. We all know that the Tacoma community is one of the biggest if not the biggest. Please stop with the complaining and let them do their work. Stop hounding them on this forum. Be patient and show some gratitude for the work they have done so far, which if you ask me, has happened rather fast.

Are you comparing the ShiftSense Pro to the OVT ECU calibration? Where is your real world data to support that "his results with the tune are kinda the same results i get with SSpro??"

I have the SSPro and its an awesome device, but it is much less complicated and WAY less capable than what the OVT calibration should be able to do.
